"So a tournament is held to appoint a new King?" I asked trying to work through all the new information in my head. We made a stop to sit and eat before continuing down the mountain, which was much longer than I remember, and Xander - after everything we've been through this morning I think we can be on a first name bases- was telling me about the history of Leandre.

"Yes, and after the new King is chosen in the tournament a ritual is held where the new King has to stand under the full moon for one night. During the night, if the sun gods and moon goddesses approve of the new King , then a pair of wings will be given to him in that night. If however the night passes without him receiving wings a new tournament is held until a suitable King is found." he explained

"I keep hearing you speak of a new King. What about a Queen?" I asked.

"A Queen? Of course female leaders stand beside their husbands and together they lead, but it has never been known that a female rules alone." he said confused at my question.

"And why not? On earth we women just started getting the respect we deserve and now I come here and I'm right back to square one? I don't think so. As soon as that Razardus has been taught a lesson or two by me, I'm taking the throne. Female or not." I said determined

"But a female can't rule." he said, but the words have barely left his mouth or he gets a smack on the head by Zanne, causing me to burst out laughing at his shocked face.

"You just hit me!" he said to Zanne still not believing it

"You bet I did. And say something stupid like that again and you'll live to regret it." she said getting an evil smirk

Obviously in this world the females do as they're told because he obviously doesn't know that you can't win against one.

"Oh yeah? And what are you going to do?" he said enjoying their little banter

"Oh I don't know," she said with her most innocent face, "but I don't think I can accept a mate that doesn't believe a women is his equal in every way." she said with a fake sad sigh

Somehow Xander didn't know that the sigh was obviously fake because he immediately tried to explain why he said that. "I only mean that it's something new in Leandre sweetie, of course you would make just as good a leader as anyone, even better."

"The thing is Leandre was divided until a couple of years ago. Every race lived on his own land and there was a constant war between the people, that is until the King Alistair and King Alexander (Rey's grandfather) who were still young lads at the time fought in order to bring peace. One night the two Kings gathered everyone who wanted peace, everyone from leaders of the clans to lowly commoners, and on that night when the full moon was shining brightly in the sky, the sun gods and moon goddesses chose their first Kings by granting them the gift of flight. And barely was peace brought into Leandre or the prince and princes of Zahee was thrown into a different dimension. Leaving us with a divided world once again, so where your world has evolved into handling such matters, with us it's just not the most important matter at the moment." he said with a shrug

"Well, sorry to burst your bubble but I'm going to make it an important matter." I said "but before I can even start to think about that I need to see King Ryan." I said looking at Xander expectantly.
