Chapter 6: Close To Death

Sora’s heart was pounding in his chest. Blood dripped from his chin. Akira was struggling to stand, Natsu was struggling to stay standing.

Star was clutching Sora’s jacket, Happy was stuck in a crevice in the ground.

“This isn’t an honorable way to fight your enemies,” Natsu hissed between clenched teeth.

Adin raised an eye-brow.

Natsu stood up straighter, “What’s more important, eh? Your pride, or you honor?”

Adin slammed Natsu on the head with his magic, and he was crushed into the ground.

“Pride and honor are just words, all I need is to see you die,”

Natsu pushed himself up on his elbows, “You’d be singing a different song if Gildarts were here,”

Adin grinned, “Really,” He dropped his hands to his sides, and the gravity returned to normal.

Natsu collapsed on his face, gasping.

Akira pushed himself to his knees.

Star stood up on shaky legs, S-sora-sama, we must leave.

Sora shook his head as more blood dripped from his chin, “You go, get away from the ruins. Find the others,”

Sora-sama……

“Huh, seems you’re tougher than I thought, Dragneel. You could still stand when I was in control of the gravity,”

Natsu stood up, “Don’t underestimate me. Most people who do end up face down in the mud,”

His fists exploded in flames, “How about we fight, fair and square,”

Adin sighed, “I don’t like fair,”

He extended his hands, and again pushed Natsu to the ground.

“D-Damnit!” he gasped.

Akira pushed himself up to his feet, struggling to stay up.

“A-Akira?” Natsu stared.

Akira’s eyes were glinting red, and a strange aura covered him.

“No! Wait!” Sora tried to stand, but fell down again.

“Akira! Stop!”

Akira wasn’t listening. He stood up straight, and smiled.

Adin blinked, “What?” he dispersed the gravity, “What are you? You’re able to stand with ease,”

Akira smirked. His eyes were a bloody red, and barely visible black scales were covering his arms slowly.

Natsu sat up, “Wha-What is this? Are you a dragon slayer to?”

Akira glanced at Natsu, shaking his head.

Sora stood up, leaning on a building, “Akira! Stop this! Don’t sink so low!”

Akira looked over at Sora, confused at first. He blinked and his eyes turned back to green, “Eh?”

He looked down at his hands, which still had black scales on the palms, “Ah crap! I,” he looked over at Sora, “I’m so sorry!”

Sora shook his head and sighed.

“H-hang on!” Natsu stood up as Happy pushed himself out of the rut, “What was that? Your eyes were all…..red. And your hands were all……black!”

Akira hesitated, “Oops?” he shrugged.

Adin was watching, wide eyed, trying to fit the pieces together.

Sora limped over to Akira, “You almost lost control,” he mumbled.

Akira looked down guiltily, “Sorry,”

Natsu scratched his head, “Seriously, what was that?”

“Nothing,” Sora snapped.

Natsu flailed his arms, “Listen you! If we’re gonna be fighting together, I need to know these things! Now how about you start trusting me, and tell me what you two are hiding,”

“You’ll regret it,” Sora whispered.

Akira looked from Sora to Natsu and back.

“Maybe we should tell him,” he sighed.

Sora’s eyes widened, “Are you joking!?”

A sudden bolt of gravity shot at Sora, flipping him through the air. He landed on the roof of one of the old buildings.

He slammed on his back, and blood gurgled out his mouth in waves.

“Sora!”

Akira ran towards the building, but was thrown back by another shot of gravity. Akira skidded on his back and stopped in front of Natsu.

“Damnit,”

Natsu bent down, “You okay?”

Akira smacked him on the head, “Dumb ass!”

He stood up, clutching his left shoulder.

Natsu stood up to, “Happy, go check on Sora,”

“Aye!” Happy flew over to the building Sora had landed on.

Sora was lying on the ground, eyes wide, blood draining out his mouth.

“S-Sora-chan?”

Happy landed next to Sora.

“Gyaaaa! Sora-chan!?”

Sora glanced at Happy, “I-I’m f-fine,” he chocked.
