Hey all!!! This is the story of how Caden and Charlie meet. If you are reading this first it might be a bit odd so I advise you read Reflections Beyond first. Also please note that because of the changes Charlie made in time this will be a bit different to what happens in Beyond.Enjoy!!!! :)

Chapter 1 - Holidays in another world

It was the last day of school and I'm sitting here listening to the droning voice of Mr Campbell. He insists on teaching us up to the last minute even though none of us are paying attention. I watched the butterflies flitting through the hot, hazy air and envied them their freedom. I could feel everybody's anticipation about the holidays and I wished I could share them but lucky me, I got to work all summer.

I was heading over to Ben's tonight for my usual lesson. Tomorrow though, Mum and Dad were shipping me off to take up residence at the Gate for the next two weeks with Mary and Roger. Now don't get me wrong, I like them but Mary can be such a slave driver.

I felt someone jab me in the back and I turned around to glare only to find it was my best friend Izzie. Her long red hair was frizzing crazily while her freckled face grinned cheekily at me. She flashed a note at me that said 'Just checking that your still awake' so I poked my tongue out at her.

"Miss Johnson, do we have a problem?" I heard Mr Campbell's booming tone and for once I wished that I could turn him into a toad but I wasn't allowed.

"No sir." I answered turning away from Izzie as everyone else snickered at me.

I went back to staring out of the window at least until the bell rang. Everyone began squealing happily with freedom while I just grimaced. No rest for the wicked, or at least me. Sometimes what annoyed me most was that Izzie thought I was off enjoying myself, and I wasn't allowed to tell her the truth about what I was really doing.

"C'mon Charlie, were free!" Izzie shrieked in my ear as she grabbed my hand and started to yank me from the classroom.

"She's not heading for a good holiday, I'll bet." Christine Walker sneered at me like usual as she swept past clouding me with her sickly perfume and swishing her long blonde hair into my face.

I resisted setting fire to her hair, only because Dad would kill me if I got caught again. Not that anyone knew it was me. For some reason though the finger normally got pointed in my direction if anything weird or untoward happened if I was anywhere within the vicinity.
