The blood gushes from the wound and onto the forest floor. She hears him laughing. This is a game to him. "Hide and seek" he called it. "Hide and Die" She called it. It was a fitting name for this "game". He shot an arrow at her, it barely missed her. She turned and saw him standing on a hill, bow and arrow in hand. She screamed and ran as best she could. She heard the cries of others nearby. She wasn’t the only he was playing with. She ran to the others and found her mother sitting on the ground crying. Her mother held the body of a little boy. The girl hobbled to her mother, blood dripping down the tips of her fingers and running down her legs; staining her pink cotton and shirt and light brown shorts. Her mother reached out and grabbed the girl, pulling her closer. The girl hugged her mother and kissed her cheek, happy to have found her.
"Oh my little girl!" Her mother cried out. "I'm so glad to see you're safe!"
The girl said nothing, she just nodded. She looked around and saw all her and mother's friends around them, bleeding and dying. She hugged her mother wanting to go home.
"I don't like this game" she thought. "Its too scary and I want to be on Daddy's team"
Her mother held her tight and cried as she clung to the body of her son and her bleeding daughter.
"Oh God, my little Lilly, you're bleeding!" Her mother exclaimed. "Oh honey, did Daddy do this to you?"
Lilly Looked at her mother and nodded.
"What happened?"
Lilly said nothing, she knew what had happened, but her shy nature and fear of her father kept her quiet. She looked up at her mother with big brown eyes, her short blond hair falling back out of her face. She stared up, her eyes showing nothing. She knew what was to come next. She could see it in her mother's eyes and in the eyes of everyone around her. She sat down and started playing in the mud, the flith seeping into her wounds. She flinched at the pain of the dirt in her legs.
"Lilly" she looked up and saw her uncle standing over her, a strange smile plastered on his face."How about you show us where your Daddy is?"
Lilly let out a sigh and stood up. She walked away from the ground and sat down under a tree. An arrow flew past her and embedded itself in the tree. Lilly looked up and saw her father standing in front her of her. He pulled the arrow out of the tree and glared down at Lilly. She looked at the ground and point in the direction of where her mother was. Lilly's father simply nodded and passed by her, leaving her under the tree bleeding and alone. Lilly rested her head on the tree happy to have been found. She listened to screams of her mother as her father killed her and the cries of the others as they fled.
"Lilly, honey"
Lilly looked up and saw her father, his clothes cover in blood and his bow broken. Lilly stood up, trying not to feel short, but her father still towered over her.
"Go find the rest of 'em" Her father said turning her around and pointing in the direction he saw the others run. "go find them and Daddy will be there in a few minutes"
Lilly sighed and hobbled through the forest. Three times was the limit. He found her twice. One more time and soon it would be her turn again. Lilly smile. She loved playing hide-and-seek on her father's side. It was fun catching and killing the other children and her little puppy back home LOVED the treats she brought back after the game was over.
