"So you guys are coming straight to my house after the game, right?"

"Right-o!"

"Of course," Laila agreed cheerfully. "Same as every other game since ninth grade. I don't know why you ask this every time."

"I just have to make sure," Caleb defended. "Mandy's parents tried to kidnap her last time, so you never know."

"That was just 'cause I had church the next day," Amanda piped up. "And Nathan saved me, remember? He talked them out of it. We'll be fine! And anyways how am I supposed to go to the party if I have to go home first? My mom will freak out if she sees me dressed up as Britney Spears before I leave the house. Especially since it's gonna be her outfit from the Slave 4 U video. Ah I'm so excited for the party! Aren't you excited? You're excited, right Laila? It's gonna be so much fun--"

"For the last fucking time I'm not going!" Laila shouted in immense frustration. "I'm getting so tired of everyone trying to make me go to this stupid party." She glared at Amanda as she turned in the front seat to pout. "No."

"Yes?"

"Please?" Caleb glanced at Laila in the rearview mirror, but she was still avidly shaking her head.

"No way. I don't do parties. I never have and I never will. No matter how many times people invite me."

"But you're basically one of the head cheerleaders and it's our senior year. You're supposed to go to these things. Don't you wanna do something different?"

"No." She shot down Caleb's plea the moment it was said. "Not going. You guys can go, I can always hang out with Chynna and Chris and Cory for the night."

"Don't try to hang out with my sister and my stupid brothers. They don't even like you." Caleb said rudely. Of course, he was lying.

"They love me," Laila corrected.

"You're right, they adore you. Probably more than they like me." Caleb grudgingly admitted.

He was exaggerating that last part, but his siblings did absolutely adore both Laila and Amanda. More in a 'they're like my older sisters, too!' way than anything. Or in Chynna's case, 'they're like the baby sisters I never had!' She was only four years older, but it was still enough to hold it over their heads.

"See? I'll be fine," Laila insisted. "We can have another game night or something. You guys have like a million board games."

"Nope! We're all going and you're coming with us," Amanda declared. She popped her door open as the car came to a stop outside her house. "See you at the game!" She hopped out to a loud farewell from Caleb and an annoyed sigh from Laila, who promptly got out and moved to the front seat. She slammed her door as Caleb slowly started down the street.

"We can decide if we're really going later." He said thoughtfully. "I'll stop bugging you about it, but bring a celebrity outfit just in case you change your mind."

"Finally someone's not trying to actually force me into it. I'm so tired of talking about this." Laila grumbled, slouching back in her seat. They were nearly to her house now.

"Nope, I'll wait 'til you decide on your own!" Caleb grinned as she tried not to roll her eyes. "Are you keeping your hair and makeup the same for tonight?"

"Yeah. I'm gonna redo it the same after I shower." She replied. She unlocked her door as they pulled up outside. "I'll see you in a little while?"

"Of course, sunshine!"
