Chapter 9

Noel's P.O.V.

"We've gotta stop by my parents' place first. Dad's been trying to contact me this whole time..." Chris said as he turned off the highway and onto a private road.

"Okay." I answered quietly while looking out the window at all the trees we passed. I didn't really want to think about the fact that I had yet to hear his phone ring or him even look at it for that matter...

"Are you alright?" Chris asked, his voice full of worry but his eyes steady on the road in front of him.

"No...yes, I don't know." I tried to express, not really sure.

"Understandable." Chris muttered.

"So how's this gonna work? I proud enough to admit I'm not safe at home but...I just met you!" I couldn't help but panic a little bit. Okay, I understood he is a werewolf...I saw that with my own two eyes. I understand I am his soulmate...I surely feel a freaky strong attraction to the man. Hell, I even understand why I need to leave my apartment! That doesn't mean I have to like it...

"I'm sorry. I never thought when I found my mate, this would happen...I never thought of some crazy ass wolf stalking and attacking MY mate for the hell of it!" Chris literally started growling. The sound reverberated throughout the small car, straight into me...is it normal for a man, growling like a dog, to sound sexy? Or was it something about the way he continued to claim me as his? Either way I couldn't help my thoughts from drifting to the dark side...

My eyes traveled over his profile hungrily taking in his every feature before landing securely on his lips...in that instant I would have given anything to taste his lips, to feel them pressed against my own.

"Noel..." Chris groaned, his gray eyes flashing to mine quickly. "You're killing me over here...we are in too small of a car for me to handle your scent..."

And of course I could only blush and turn away from him. I mean, hell, the man has super scent! I stole a quick glance back at him and found myself staring again...how could I not? His masculinity rolled off him in waves that seemed to crash straight into my core.

"Noel..." Chris moaned again in warning.

"What am I not allowed to look?" I joked with him.

"Looking is fine but when that looking turns into a heated glance its a bit more than I can handle in your small ass car...we are taking my truck to my place." He nearly growled at me as we finally pulled up outside a cute two story yellow house smack dab in the middle of the woods. My eyes were immediately drawn to the comfy looking rocking chairs that littered the beautiful wrap around porch and I could just imagine sitting there in the summer, reading but of course.

"Beautiful." I couldn't help but whisper, still taking in the house in front of me.

"Yes..." Chris mumbled. Something about his tone made me look over to him. I was only a little shocked when I found him looking at me...okay that was cheesy but I couldn't keep the small smile off my face.

"Too much?" He asked grinning at me.

"Maybe just a little..." I grinned back.

"It's true none the less. Come on, Dad should be back by now and I'm ready to put some damn shoes on, my feet are frozen."

I freakin' forgot he had no shoes on! I hurriedly got out of the car, not waiting for him to walk around to my side, where he was obviously headed. I looked down at his bare feet and cringed...it was way too cold out for him to be out here barefoot. Oh my God, he doesn't even have a jacket! My mom would have had my head at this one...
