Chapter 1
Running out of the room with a backpack on one shoulder and an old jacket in the other hand Megan yelled out at the tall brown haired guy perched on the barstool in the kitchen.
"I'm coming don't you dare eat my toast."
“Oh come on, you spent at least an hour in the bathroom today and your hair is up in a ponytail? I'll never understand girls." Zach said shaking his head.
Megan scowled at her older brother "I just took a shower so my hair is still damp, that's why it is in a ponytail."
"Whatever you say Megs. You are lucky that I am nice enough to wake up early just to come here and drive you to your final. Otherwise you would have had to walk in this freezing weather to get there." Zach stated grabbing his keys from the counter.
Megan smiled brightly at her brother and nodded, “I know, thank you for picking me up. Now can we get going please? The sooner I get done with this the sooner we can start our winter break."
"Meg! Good luck on your final, you are gonna do great!" A voice yelled out from the other room.
"Thanks Stacy!" Megan called back to her roommate.
Once the siblings hopped into the car, Zach immediately turned on the heat. As they waited for the temperature in the car to increase, Zach turned to his sister.
“So Megs you ready for this?" he asked studying her face.
"I sure hope so! I can't wait to be done, so we can head back.” Then she added with a slight pout, “I miss being home.”
“Oh me too, I miss Danni’s delicious food.” He paused before continuing, “Did I mention Luca is spending the break with us? His parents are off to Italy to visit Vicky and he couldn’t go since he has a project due. So mom invited him to stay with us, because she didn’t want him to be alone over break.”
Not letting her smile falter, Megan said, "Oh? That's cool, how is he doing? I haven't seen him in a while."
Zach pulled the car out of the parking space and started to drive. The roads were paved of the snow earlier in the day, but the new flakes that had fallen since stuck to the road making all the drivers more cautious.
“Well if you ever stopped by my place you would see him. But you are always either at the library, hanging out with friends or busy with Ryan.” He said smirking at the last part. “Anyway he is doing well, and he says he misses you too. He had is last final yesterday so he going to be coming back home with us.” He shrugged, “So I guess you’ll see him today.”
"Aw I miss him too, and what do you mean I’m always busy handing out with Ryan? It’s not like I just hang out with him alone." Megan exclaimed and turned to face the road watching the naked trees pass by.
Zach laughed, “I know you don't, I'm just giving you a hard time because you guys are such good friends and because he likes you."
She rolled her eyes, "Shut up Zach. Ryan doesn't like me like that and you know it. Anyway we are close so you can drop me off right here." Megan said as she gathered her bag and tugged on her scarf.
"Megs anyone with eyes can see that boy loves you, but hey good luck! You studied hard so you are gonna kick butt on this! I'll be back in an hour to get you if you get done early just call me okay?" Zach pulled up close to the curb and waited as Meg got out.
