Alpha's Mate

spinner.gif

Dear Readers,

Okay, please don't hate me. I know I haven't uploaded in a while. For that, I'm incredibly sorry. However, there is a reason, but it's one that is too personal. I hope you all understand.

I'd also like to thank everyone who cared enough to wonder what happened. I've read the comments and messages. And I am alive and well. (:

With that aside, I'd like to say...here is chapter fifteen. It's been a long time coming. I hope you all enjoy and write me those comments I love so much!

Thanks and enjoy!

(:

Chapter Fifteen:

Kristen Caulfield, designated babysitter to the ever impossible Alpha female of National, was pissed. Not only had she had to spend a whole day at a high school she didn’t have to attend, she had been ditched.

     Again.

She barely contained her growl of rage when she found out that not only had Samantha escaped her, but the other two had also eluded her. She was better than this. She stepped out of the double doors and took a deep, cleansing breath. That’s when the faint smell of Casey Warden hit her nose. Her sense of smell was a hell of a lot better than any human while she was in this form, but as a wolf it was a match. She could tell the smell was fading so she jumped into the nearest set of bushes and yanked her clothes off, careful to make sure no one watched.

Then she shifted. Kristen didn’t care that it was broad day light; she just knew she had to do something. She was not going to return to the pack house without at least one of her charges of the day. Because what would that say about her ability to be a bodyguard?

She felt the wind as it blew across and through her brown fur. She couldn’t describe the feeling she felt when in her wolf form; there was nothing like it. The freedom, the escape. Not to mention all of her senses were hyperaware.

Kristen didn’t need to run far to catch the scent as it started to drift off. She spotted Casey’s black McLaren at a gas station. As she neared, she saw a black SUV with tinted windows pull up along the next pump. Kristen knew down to her gut that whoever was in the SUV meant harm to Casey. Before she could do anything, two men she didn’t recognized jumped out from the back seat and rushed Casey. One had something in his hand that he used to close over Casey’s mouth while the other man went behind Casey to catch him as he fell.

Then they shoved him into the backseat.

Before they could drive off, Kristen caught a good look at the two people in the front seat. She didn’t recognize the guy in the driver’s seat, but the woman in the passenger seat was someone she did. The big blond hair, the copious amount of unnecessary make-up…Bridget Spears.

As the black SUV sped down the road to God knows where, Kristen went in the opposite direction. Only to be tackled by something large.

Fuck, was the last thought she had before passed out.

Sam was bound to go crazy with the amount of worry she had over Casey. He hadn’t called, hadn’t made any sort of contact since he left the school, and that had been nearly eight hours earlier.

Casey was a lot of things, but he would have called. Or at least texted.

“Should we go look for him?” Sam asked Kale. Her mate was currently burning a trail in the carpet as he, too, worried over his brother.

“We’ve already sent out a dozen guards.”

     “I feel so useless—”

The front door slamming open cut off what she was going to say. She rushed to the entrance and saw Avery holding a very unconscious Chassie in his arms.

“She needs to feed,” Avery said at once. “Where is Casey?”

Sam was frantic. This was definitely not good. “Casey isn’t here. We have no idea where he is.”

The look Avery sent her would have killed if it were possible. “She can’t die.” He said it so serious, so deadpan, Sam knew he meant business. And she couldn’t help but wonder what his association with Chassie was.
