Purest Honesty
I wrote this in honor of our jacked up court system. when it comes to divorced parents, they claim to take the child's best interest at heart, but in the ten years i've lived in this situation, i've come to realize that they don't care what the children want, and worry solely for the "rights" of the parents to the child, as if children were simply property. Even when i was seven, i was NO ONE'S property. I am a living breathing person, as are all children, with opinions worth hearing and needs that must be met. the judicial system sucks, and will continue to until they come to realize that fact. If they ever do.
***PUREST HONESTY***
Why is it the word of a child is the purest truth,
Honesty beyond compare,
But nobody credits the words of youth.
For our vows they choose not to care?
Sincerity is a gift granted in life's dawning days,
Ruined as our seasons grow cold,
To lie is the basis of human ways,
A trait learnt as the young grow old.
As children we are innocent,
And yet discredited until we grow,
They mistrust us for we are different,
And they have little faith in that which they cannot know.
Our honesty is a gift wasted on their deaf ears,
For they care only for wisdom gained through years.
