Blood Lust

I was kneeling in the back of my small, dark cage, tired, weak and hungry.

I heard faint footsteps from overhead. The red coats were coming for me. I could smell something strange, mixing with the usual smells of the lab. It smelt of… blood? Suddenly, my hunger reared up and expanded to monstrous standards. Then, the red coats slipped. A sudden splash took me by surprise. I was drenched from head to toe in blood. Well, at least, that’s what I thought it was. I had a sudden urge to attempt to bend and break the thick, silver bars separating me from the rest of the lab.

I suddenly found the urge too strong to resist and leapt from the bottom of my cage with the strength of one hundred warriors. The bars bent as easily as butter under my vampire hands. And I crawled out, but the red coats didn’t see or hear me. I stealthily leapt to the top of a tall stack of crates and silently jumped from crate to crate. I was hungry and wished to tear each of the redcoats throat as easily as I had bent the bars. My instinctive mind overruled my reasoning.

I Jumped down from a height that would kill a normal person but a just soared silently down. I questioned later how I had done it. I crept up on a red coated. I covered his mouth to stifle any sound he should make and pulled him bake behind the crates. A bit his neck and injected a neurotoxin that would silence him and then feasted. He was a large man so there was plenty of blood. My lips wet with blood, I could not stop. It was part of my morals to keep the human alive. I accidentally drained this man. I finished and then leapt to the roof and clung to it like a gecko. I crept out and found myself in another chamber. This one was empty.

I was halfway across the chamber when I realised the walls were stacked high with bottles of liquid, books and scrolls. I paused and started inspecting the walls. I may need to use this information.
