The Person of the Secret
9th January 1895 was the day Mrs. Mallard had died. On Mrs. Mallard's first death Richard had come to visit . “Please accept our heartfelt condolences and may God bless the departed soul”, he said with a very guilty voice . “It is okay Richard” replied Mr. Mallard. “No problem, gotta go to work, see you later”. Mr. Mallard had shifted to live with his relatives after the death of his wife. Mrs. Mallard's sister, Josephine was living there as well. “Morning, I am very sorry about today, must be very hard for you?”, Josephine inquired being as polite as possible. “Umm yes, it does hurt, but she was your sister too, I am also very sorry for you” Mr. Mallard had replied. “Yes”, she said as she turned around and went towards her room. Quite interesting, why did Josephine just walk off? Something is not right here, is it? The same night he got a call from someone.
“Hello?”
“Hello, you are talking to Mr. Mallard, Who is this”
“Okay, now listen carefully and don't say a word, it is currently sharp 9 P.M, I want you to meet my colleague in the park in front of the church at exactly 9:30 P.M not a minute late or else...”
“HELLO! HELLO!” Exploded Mr. Mallard
But it was too late, the stranger had already hung up. Mr. Mallard accordingly arrived to the park.
“Hey! Wait a second that is Richard!” Mr. Mallard exclaimed. “Hello! How are you?”, replied Richard not so excited. “I am fine, but what are you doing here and why were you guys threatening me?”, inquired Mr. Mallard
“STOP!”, he yelled.
“Listen to me carefully”, he said seriously. “Today is 9th January 1896! Your wife died a year ago, do you even realize that? She was a heart patient and she died of a heart attack when she saw YOU.” Richard tried to explain to Mr. Mallard.
“What are you trying to say?” replied Mr. Mallard
“Why would your wife die after seeing you?”
“The doctors said she died because of the 'shock of joy'”
“THE SHOCK OF JOY? Are you kidding me? Why would she be suddenly happy to see you when you came from work? It makes no practical sense”
“Get to the point, you are confusing me”
“Something had happened, that is why she was happy to see you, Josephine is the reason why your wife had died....”
“SHUT UP! She is her sister, there is no reason why she would kill her”
“Have you noticed anything about her behavior when you try to talk to her about your wife? Does she act weird?”
How does Richard know about Josephine acting in such a way when I talk about her sister? Maybe I should just stick with what Richard is saying.
“Yes! You are right! What is going on? Why did she kill her then?”
“She didn't kill her, she said that you were dead...and then when you appeared in front of the door she got a shock and died”
Richard explained everything to Mr. Mallard about how Josephine was the one responsible for her death. Mr. Mallard left there in a very bad mood and headed straight for home thinking of punishing her.
The very next day Mr. Mallard had invited Josephine for dinner. She arrived a bit late.
“Well, well, well, look who we have here? Welcome Josephine” Mr. Mallard greeting her in a very anxious tone
“H-hello, sorry for being late”
Haha, sorry for being late, in no time you will be sorry for even coming here
“Oh, no problem come have a seat please”
“Before she got the chance, she was already on the floor unconscious.
Approximately an hour later she woke up lying down, actually down trying to wake up.
“Why can't I move!” She screamed
“Haha... very soon you will be dead” He laughed in a very derisive manner
“Please!! Please!! NO!! Don't do this to me”
“Why did you kill my wife, why did you say I was dead? Answer!”
“Please, I didn't kill your wife! It was all Richard! Believe me please!”
