Ever notice how staring at nothing suddenly becomes more interesting when you’re in school? ITapping my pen against my desk, I stare at the clock watching the hand tick painfully slow. It was five minutes till three and then I could finally escape out of this hell hole. The teacher was rambling on about something about respect but I really wasn't interested. I looked around the room and I see the popular lot giggling and whispering away, completely ignoring our teacher. I felt a pang of jealousy. They had friends, they had someone whom they could share their secrets and jokes with. I on the other hand, had nobody.  At least not any more. I used to six months ago. Her name was Lily. She had been my best friend since we were five. We used to get up to all sorts of mischief and I wouldn't change a single moment. She always used to involve me in her mad schemes like putting glue on the teacher’s chair, lying to all the teachers with fake notes so we could miss school and go hang by the river. But despite her rebel-like behaviour she was a good friend. She was always there when I needed her, always there to make me smile when I needed it.
The day that Lily told me that her parents were making her move school. It was probably the most depressed I'd ever been, apart from Lily I never really had any  friends, She had been my best friend for so long, she couldn’t just leave! But her mother told her that she needed to attend a private school where she could get a better education. I let out a sigh.

The bell rang signaling the end of school.I put in my ear phones and walked out of the class room and went straight to my locker. I looked at reflection in the small mirror that lily had given me. My appearance wasn’t anything too amazing. Despite what Lily said.
I had dark wavy brown hair that ran down my back, it was never put up. I admit it is shiny but that was only because I like to use expensive shampoos. I liked it down because I liked how long my hair was, it was always fun to play with. The darkness of my hair contrasted with my extremely pale face, due to lack of sunlight here in Ireland.
I was medium height, probably around 5 feet 6 which are quite small for an eighteen year old but I was okay with that because tall girls just plain scare me! My body wasn’t exactly a supermodels’ body, but it was enough for me to have some curves in the right places.
Staring at my eyes I smile slightly, they are the deepest shade of royal blue, they were the same shade as my Grandmothers, which was something I was slightly proud of because no matter how many wrinkles that women had she was always beautiful.

Thinking of my Grandmother brought a tear to my eye. She always said that our eyes made us special in a way I could not understand. Bless her she was always slightly batty but I loved her to pieces, I really did miss her so much, it was heart breaking when she died but sometimes I swear, I hear her whispering to me, guiding me when I am in most need. Hearing Dead People? Pfft I don’t sound mad or anything.

I violently rubbed my eyes hating the fact I was practically crying in a place where everyone could see me. I get into my Volkswagen beetle and drove home. I put my school bag onto our coat hangers and grab a coke. My mum came in behind me giving me a kiss on the check.
" I'm ordering Chinese tonight honey, do you want the usual" Mum says giving me a sweet smile. I nod at her and smile. Yes! Chinese that just the thing I needed! God I love food. When the Chinese arrived I served up mine and mum whilst she paid. Tonight was my turn to choose a movie, deciding to try and cheer myself up so I put on Shriek. Yes I am just that cool. We were half way through watching it when my mum suddenly paused the TV.
"Hey I was watching that" I complain pouting.
“Melissa your moving schools. You’re going to Trinity Academy; it’s a school for gifted students." She said blunty avoiding eye contact with me.
Did...Did I just hear that right? I was moving school?
