“Hey, Ciara. You awake?” I heard Nick ask. My eyes flew open and I looked up at him quickly.
“Nick? What do you want?” I looked beside me for Lucas, but the bed was empty.
“I wanted to tell you that breakfast is ready. Lucas told me to come get you.” He said smiling, holding out a hand for me to take.
Now Lucas is letting Nick come get me? Alone? There’s really something wrong with that boy and I need to figure out what it is. I took Nick’s hand hesitantly and walked with him up to the deck.
“Hey, babe. You hungry?” Lucas asked wrapping his arms around me tightly. Just then my stomach growled loudly, making my face heat up instantly. He chuckled before passing me a plate full of food.
“Thanks.” I said sitting down. I ate slowly, watching the boys eat. Nick sat across from me, looking calm and composed. Was he really hiding something, or was I being paranoid? The little voice was still nagging at me, but I didn’t know if it was true.
“What are you looking at?” Nick asked now looking up.
“Oh, sorry. I guess I spaced out for a second.” I said cringing. I looked over at a confused looking Lucas.
“I didn’t hear your thoughts.” He said furrowing his brows. I shrugged at went back to eating. Once I was done, I threw the plate and silverware away and sun bathed on the deck.
“Ciara.” I heard someone say breathlessly.
I looked up to see Areel; he was standing there gawking at me. He wore a white shirt, black vest and black dress pants with black shoes. “Areel? How did you get here?” I asked sitting up.
He gulped before saying, “There’s a problem. Your powers are growing, I can sense it. Soon, the others will know it too. I need to take you somewhere else, somewhere safe.”
“Where?” I asked nervously.
“You will join me at my place; your mate can come to.” His face looked disgusted as he said mate.
“When are we leaving?” I had to find Lucas and let him know.
“We should go now.” I stood up and began looking for Lucas. When I opened the door to our room, I saw him leaning over on the bed, talking quietly into my phone.
“Are you sure it’s him?” He whispered. There was silence before he said, “What should we do? He will probably find us soon. Do you know how powerful he is? It will be near impossible to kill him.”
Who the hell is he talking to and about? I cleared my throat loudly making Lucas turn around, his face went pale. “Who is that?” I asked motioning towards the phone.
“I have to go.” He said and hung up quickly. “It was your father, we need to leave.” He said as he began to walk towards the deck.
“Lucas, wait a second. Areel is here, he said we should go with him.” I told him pulling him to a stop. His eyes went wide before he grabbed me and pulled me behind him. “What is wrong?” I gasped.
“Areel was the one who trashed your place, Jack confirmed it.” He growled.
“What? Jack saw him do it?” I asked wide eyed. I wonder how he saw, he never usually went there.
“That’s what he said, we really should get going. Stay close to me.” We made it to the deck where Nick and Areel were talking in hushed tones. “We’re leaving.” Lucas announced. He started the boat, and we began to go back home.
“Where are we going?” Nick asked casually.
“Back to Ciara’s.” He said angrily. Nick shut up and I gave him a good look. What were they talking about?
Nick turned to face me and an evil smile crept over his face before he turned around to look at the sea. What the hell is going on? Is he hiding something? Is he going to hurt me? I felt frozen with fear; I couldn’t believe what was going on.
“Ciara, come here.” Lucas said. I walked towards him quickly, putting him between Nick and myself. “Are you ok?” He whispered.
