Chapter 8

“Mom, I’m home!”, I yelled entering the house, not for once letting go of my baby’s hand.

My mom came running down stairs and froze on the spot when she saw Andrew.

“Is this…”, she looked at me with the biggest eyes in the world, “Is this…”

“Yeah, mommy… This is Andrew!”, I sighed.

“Mommy, how cute”, he whispered on my ear and chuckled.

“Are you guys…? You know…”, she asked in shock.

I raised an eyebrow at her awkward attitude, she’s normally a very self-controlled person. Except when it comes to… oh, stupid me. Except when it comes to gay couples. Then she freaks out… in a good but weird way.

“Yes mom, we are dating” I sighed again.

“Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God!” she came running and threw herself at Andrew’s arms, who instantly hugged her back. I’ve got to admit it’s good to see he’s okay with my mommy’s craziness, because she’s the most important woman and he’s the most important man in my life, and they need to get along or I won’t be happy.

“Wait,” she pulled away and raised an eyebrow. Andy took this as an opportunity to take my hand again, “What are exactly your intentions when it comes to my son?”

“Well, Ms. Johnson…”

“Call me Carla, sweetie.” She smiled and he smiled back softly.

“Well, Carla, I love your son a lot, and I’m not going to tell you I’m gonna marry him, because we’re young, and things change, but I can tell you I want to be with him for a very long time.” He blushed and I couldn’t help but do the same, “And I’ll always try very hard to make him happy and to be by his side through the good and bad times, as long as he wants me.”

“What? Sorry, I wasn’t listening, I was lost in your eyes… Alex had told me they were blue… Really blue… But I didn’t imagine it was possible for eyes to be so blue…” she seemed hypnotized.

“Well, mom, he loves me, and won’t hurt me. And I love him too, as you know… Can I sleepover at his?” I smiled.

“Of course, here’s money for food.”, she handed me twenty bucks and I stormed upstairs letting my mom and my boyfriend talk for a while. I sighed. Boyfriend. It sounded so good, so lovely.

I packed a tiny backpack with clothes for the next day, my toothbrush and the twenty dollars my mom gave me.

As I ran downstairs, I could hear my mom giving Andrew the final indications.

“… And make him eat breakfast, he doesn’t like to eat in the morning, but it’s a very important meal, and he has low blood pressure, so he needs to be always well fed.”

“Mom, leave my boyfriend alone, he’s mine, ok?” I kissed her forehead and pulled Andrew with me out of the house after shouting, “Love you mom.”

“Love you too, baby. Be good, boys!”, she shouted back.

I closed the door behind me and Andrew started to giggle. Wow, the manly man giggled. Okay, it’s kind of cute… Adorable.

“Well, you’re mom is… something else.”

“Shut up, I love her.”, I frowned.

“Oh, baby, don’t frown, I liked her a lot. She’s so similar to you, I mean, everything, physically and personally. Except for the eyes, yours are bluer…” he smiled and stroked my cheek.

“I’m sorry if that was somewhat embarrassing.” I sighed.

He let out a light chuckle and hugged me.

“No, honey. I mean it, I love your mom almost as much as I love you. I guess I already expected a fun and crazy person, but at the same time loving and tolerant… She raised you well. By the way, can I ask you something?” he asked, still not pulling back from our hug. His body was pressed against mine, which made sparks of electricity shot from every inch of my body, making me want to jump in pure happiness.
