The doorbell rang at quarter past ten, I figured Marcus was the type of guy to keep a girl in suspense, and I was right.
My brother answered the door, "Hey Mason, hitting the field on Sunday?" He asked, my brother and him played for the same soccer team, but in different age groups of course.
I started to have a bad feeling about the plan.
"Where's your sister?" Marcus asked.
Mason started laughing, aw hell no!
"What's so funny?" Marcus asked hesitantly,
"Dude, she just left with some motorbike riding model wannabe" Mason replied.
I could hear Lisa cracking up next to me, this was so not funny. I could never land a model who rode a motorbike.
"What the hell?" Marcus said, surprised.
"I know right? My sister going out with someone. Anyway, why are you here to see my sister?" Mason asked suggestively.
He was going to get it.
"I was supposed to go to a party with Penny tonight" He replied, the confusion was like a beacon on his face.
Mason started laughing his head off, "Wait, let me get this straight. You. Were. Going. Out. With. My. Sister. And she stood you up for a motorbike riding pretty boy!" Mason exclaimed, I had to hand it to him, he was quite an accomplished bull shitter.
Well of course he was, he learnt from the best.
"Did you catch the 'pretty boy's' name?" Marcus asked.
"Nope" Said Mason, popping the 'p'
"Well, then, tell your sister that she ows me a date" He said, beginning to walk away.
"Whatever" Mason replied, and with that, Marcus left, and I was left with a huge grin on my face, man, that felt great.
As soon as Marcus left the house and the door closed, Lisa and I burst out laughing like hyena's, we couldn't stop. Not even when my brother came in and demanded his payment, in the end, he just joined us and we were all laughing like hyenas.
After that, Lisa stayed at my house for a sleep over and we watched the tape over and over again, until it was burned into our minds and we could forever reminiss the look on Marcus' face.
The next morning, we got ready for school. When we got to school, I was greeted by Marcus and almost burst out in laughter, Lisa had left me to talk to him as she was probably halfway down to her locker and laughing her head off.
"You stood me up yesterday" He said, he almost looked sincere.
"Yesterday?" I asked, Marcus just looked at me.
"I was supposed to come pick you up for a party" He reminded me.
"Woops" I replied, he looked frustrated and walked off.
I couldn't help but feel a little bad for him, but what I had done was nothing compared to how he had cheated on me when we had dated.
I went to my first class, Chad was there. Oh right, it was english lit and we had a project to work on tonight.
"Hi Chad" I said.
"Hi Penny" He said and we got to work.
"Penny?" He asked after a little while's silence.
"Yeah?" I asked.
"Your friend Marcus, is a pain in the ass" He said and went back to his usual quiet, as I said, "Tell me about it"
I went to recess to find Lisa and Jordan.
"Hey guys" I said.
When Jordan left to go to the bathroom, Lisa and I burst out laughing and played the video on our phones. We started hyserically laughing until Jordan came over and spotted us with the phones.
"Spill" He said, we showed him the video.
Five minutes later and he was rolling on the floor pissing himself.
"Promise not to tell anyone" Lisa said, he nodded, still laughing.
All day and we were still laughing. I finally got to my last class of the day, I had this class with Marcus and because our teacher was insane, he sat us next to each other.
"So Penny penis, who was the motorbiking pretty boy your brother was telling me about?" He asked.
I froze up, I was not expecting him to ask me any further.
"A friend" I replied, trying to sound as calm as I could.
"Do I know him?" He asked, I shook my head.
"Does he go here" I shook my head again.
"Don't lie to me Pen, is it that Chad guy?" He asked. I shook my head furiously.
"Why should you care anyway Marcus?" I Asked.
"Maybe it's because I care about you, Pen" He said, and my voice froze in my throat.
