I began walking away abruptly and Levi ran to catch up with me. Great, exactly what I needed right now.

"What was that all about?" He asked me, trying so intricately to hide his nosiness. He was failing... Epically. I could tell he was hanging on to every word I spoke.

"Oh.. He was just asking me out," I said nonchalantly and Levi looked completely lost. Surely if Aiden took an interest to me, Levi would know. Levi knew everyone and he knew everything so the look on his face proved that this was new information to him, which wasn't that shocking. How hard was it to keep you wanting to ask someone out a secret?

Levi grabbed both of my arms and stopped me. "And?" He asked expectantly. I could tell he was getting a little too antsy as his hands started to tremble.

I rolled my eyes figuring the quicker I told him, the quicker he'd leave me alone. "And I said maybe." I removed his arms and kept walking.

"Woah woah. Maybe?" He asked me and I nodded simply in reply.

"Absolutely not. Hell no," he stated firmly.

"What's the big deal?" I asked him completely confused. Sure he was my best friend but his curiosity was getting the best of him.

"You can't go out on a date with Asshole McGee! He's mistreated every girl he's ever been with!" He exclaimed. "You could do so much better than that."

"Like who?!" I finally snapped back and he took a moment to read my face. I sighed exasperatedly. "Who else is asking me out? It's not like guys are lined up at my locker or anything."

And this was true. I was very awkward around boys and I was still a virgin. I had a boyfriend once for like a week.... But does 6th grade count ?

Levi took a breath as he stepped towards me. His left arm sat on my waist and his right cupped my chin.

"Look Ky," he started. "You're beautiful and smart and so very difficult to handle. If the guys aren't lined up, it's because they don't know how to approach an alpha woman like yourself," he spoke so gently and kindly to me. It made my heart melt and after this mushiness I'd started to feel it hit me. I tried calming myself. There was no point in getting too excited because he was just comforting his friend, nothing more. He didn't feel the same way I did and I had to accept that he never would.

Wait.

How did I feel?

My head started to spin as I realized I was losing it. Was I insane? I couldn't do this, not with Levi. He was entirely too special, too important to me. Whatever I was doing, I had to stop, for the sake of our friendship. I would ruin everything. Everyone knows dating your friends never works out. However I felt--I hadn't decided yet--would be painfully one sided and he would probably stop talking to me because he would be too afraid to reject me. I didn't want that from him. Sympathy.

I decided that I wouldn't have to worry about any of that because I didn't like Levi. I was just confusing a good friend with a potential lover. He was my best friend and nothing more. I didn't like Levi and that was final.

"Kylie?" Levi called my name and snapped me out of my thoughts.

"Uh, yeah?" I asked coming out of what seemed like a daze.

"Are you okay?" He asked. My heart sank as I took in his appearance. His tanned summer skin, blonde hair, it all drove me wild.

Levi stood at about 6'1. He was co-captain of the varsity Football team and already had many college offers. He was also class president.
