“Sir please, sir, sir...sir please calm down, sir!" “Sir, we will use pepper spray!" The officers said as the struggled to keep a hold of Zak. After a minute or so, the male cop decided to hold him to the ground and have the woman pepper spray him in the face. Zak yelled in pain and squinted his eyes hard, “WHAT THE FUCK YOU, YOU BITCH! Ah.....f-f-f-FUCK!" They grabbed him by his waist and legs and carried him out.
“Holy, shit.... we have to get to the police department, guys" Aaron said scratching his head and sweating, “What the hell did he do?" Nick said pacing back and forth, “I’ll drive y'all" Jeff said quietly from the corner of the room, “enough of the small talk. I got your number from the hospital, I'll call you when the vans ready for you. Alright, this ain't no lounge, get your shit and get the hell out!" We all grabbed the equipment and made our way towards the door as Sonny glared at us.
“Hang on tight everyone, yeeeeeeeehaw!" Jeff yelled as he shut the door of his truck and revved the engine. As we zoomed off heading towards the city, we all became lost deep in thought, “So, uh, what do you think Zak did?" I asked them. They both looked at me out of their daze and shrugged, “who knows, I mean, it's Zak." Nick said rolling his eyes then staring off into space. I fiddled with my thumbs as I thought of what to say. I looked over at Aaron who was messing around on his phone and scratching his beard. Nick, who seemed to be in some other world at the moment, was tossing a battery back and forth between his hands, "Hey, Lani?" Jeff said interrupting my inner thoughts as he rolled down the window. His voice seemed to catch both of the guy’s attention in the trunk and they turned to stare at me, "Uh, what's up Jeff?" I said ignoring their stares, "The sheriff's office is on highway 30, right?"
"Yeah, just go straight on through, you'll see it. It's the big building on the hill"
" I know, I know, I was just wondering'...” He said throwing his cigarette out and rolling up the window.
He pulled in front of the building and helped each of us out of the trunk, "After y'all" He said opening the door and letting all of us through. Inside the building was small, but the vaulted ceiling made the room look large. I noticed against the wall by the door were 4 chairs. Standing next to them was a plastic plant and pictures of the city. I looked up to see a huge chandelier hanging from the center of wide window that let in the sun, “Excuse me, can I help you?" said a large woman from behind a bullet proof window.
“Yes, our friend was brought here. Zak Bagans?" Nick said. She bobbed her head and pressed a button with her long, fake nails, "Mr. Coles, family here for Mr. Bagans" Suddenly the door opened and an officer came out, "Hello, I'm officer Coles. I haven't spoken to your friend; I wanted to wait until you were all here." We nodded and he showed us through the door into a long hallway. He showed us up to a door that was marked 'IR4' and pointed at a window, "It's one way. He can't see you." Inside the room was Zak, who stared at the handcuffs on his wrists with a pissed off expression on his face.
“Okay, go on in and take a seat next to Zak." The officer said as he let us in. When Zak saw us his face lit up but there was no sign of a smile, "Oh thank god" He said staring at us. We each took a seat next to him and another officer came in, handing the other 2 thick manila envelopes, "Thank you, sir" He said as the other left. "Okay, why the hell am I here?" Zak hissed through his teeth as if he were fighting back jumping over the table and tackling the officer. The officer placed the envelope on the table that was marked with a letter A, "What the hell is that?" Zak asked with his eyebrows scrunched up. The officer tore the top of the envelope off and reached inside.
