Hey witches, wizards, muggles and creeps!
Oh Merlin, a couple more days until Christmas! Yay! Yule Ball is not yet here in the book, but Charlotte learns a new language with Glacier, and Hermione and Ginny are in the chapter! You also learn what the second task is! It doesnt seem dangerous... yet.
Enjoy and Happy Christmas in advance,
~Kanawhale
I knew what I needed, so I walked over to the forbidden forest, and found the stadium where the first task had taken place.
There had to be a clue on that dagger.
Scanning the field with skill and precision, I found something shining and grey in the grass. I walked over and picked up the blood-stained blade. The body must have been removed. I wiped it off on the moss nearby and ran my fingers along the blunt side of the weapon, feeling the smooth surface become rough and rigid. I flipped the blade over, and read the cursive words that lay there.
Visit the beast.
Beside it, was an image of a dragon taking flight. Was this about Glacier? I had to go visit her.
Putting the dagger in a leather pouch I carried, I walked towards the field of dragons. I gazed at the wonderful creatures in awe as one of them snarled, reared up, and swiped at the air angrily, breathing flames. I smiled, and scanned the grass for the black dragon with blue eyes. I spotted her and called her name. Glacier turned and saw me, then walked towards me. I laughed as I put my head against her snout and stroked her scales. "Hey, Glacier." I whispered affectionately. "Are you having a good time?"
She huffed and showed her white fangs.
"I wish I could understand your language, hon." I sighed. Glacier backed up, looked at me, and patted the grass with her feet. She let out a strange noise that sounded like a mix between a grunt and a snarl. I repeated as best I could and she nodded. She then flapped her wings greatly while still sitting and squealed shrilly. I imitated the noise and Glacier spun in circles, showing her happiness. I smiled at her and we continued the lesson.

She could speak eastern beast! This was amazing! She had already learned most of the vocabulary and had spoked a sentence all by herself. We just had a few more words to go. I moved forwards, nudged her softly, and said, "Love."
"Love." Charlotte responded, grinning. I flew up, circled the air twice, and shouted, "Yes! Perfect! You're getting so good at this!"
"Thank you." She replied in English. "We should do this again sometime. Oh! By the way, I wanted to ask you something."
"Anything." I said, lying down.
She said something that I couldn't understand.
"Can you say that in Eastern Beast, please?" I questioned.
"That was the challenge..." She murmured in English before switching to Eastern Beast. "Do you know what the second task is?"
"Oh. Yes, I do." I smiled. "You have to start a city, have an army, and invade the other team's civilization, taking their power and resorces."
"What do we use as townspeople?"
I paused. "A race from the Forbidden Forest."
"And we can make the city anywhere?"
"Yes."
"Do we partner up?"
"Yes. You're paired with Draco Malfoy."
"Thank you." She hugged me. "I have to go, but I'll see you soon."
"Goodbye, Charlotte."
"Bye, Glacier."

I walked away, feeling confident and excited for both the second task and the Yule Ball - tonight. As I paced up the hills towards Hogwarts, Hermione and Ginny came running down to me, grasping my arms and pulling me closer to the school.
"Woa," I laughed as the wind was knocked out of me. "What's the rush?"
"It's four!" Ginny exclaimed excitedly. "Let's get pretty!"
"Oh, Merlin." I complained. "This soon?"
"It's going to take more time than you think, Charlotte." Hermione pointed out. "We need to calculate every preperation. Hair, makeup, time to get dressed, jewelery, fine-tuning..." She trailed off.
"Hermione Granger gets pumped about a ball." I said. "That's a first."
She laughed lightly. "Strange, isn't it?"
I thought about that word, strange. It was strange that enchanted singing existed, strange that I could fight so well... strange that these innocent girls want to learn how to fight.
