Winter

A white blanket covers the earth;

all the creatures have vanished

and left the world lifless

Small rabbits leavefootprints

in the bleached white snow

Deer are hiding in the bushes as

a lone wolf stalks his territory in

the sunless day

He howls for his family waiting

until a distant echo is heard through

the tall pine trees

A field mouse hurries with its small dinner

for its family to survive during the long

fast

The oak and pine trees are still lifless and

breathless as white scarfs wrap around their

thick branches

What once was a flowing river is now a large piece of

ice; with her water fall turning into a frozen fountain

for the next three months
