~ ~ Chapter Twenty Seven ~ ~

Not a sound could be heard as I kept staring at the ground, taking deep and slow breaths while I encouraged myself to raise my head and just look at them. I was nervous though, and when five minutes had passed and not even Brody had said anything, well, my nerves had skyrocketed.

“Say something you guys,” I whispered, turning my head to the side a little, but still avoiding looking in their direction.

“I for one didn’t quite just hear you. Can you say it louder?”

A small squeak escaped my mouth as I spun around to face an extremely smug looking Saxon, if the grin on his face stretched any further then he would tear his mouth wide open and end up looking like the Joker. With wide eyes, I quickly stumbled backwards, my cheeks heating up immediately as embarrassment flooded my body.

“I think I’m going to die,” I muttered, ramming into someone who caught me by my arms as I attempted to run.

“That’s not what you said just before,” Saxon smirked even more, walking closer.

“I-I-I...,” I stuttered, my brain just completely shutting down on me and offering no words of payback as any help at all. Stupid brain! You obviously had no problem finding words to scream out at my family, but no, now you shut down on me when I really need you.

“What have you done to my sister?” Brody demanded and I quickly looked over at him. Harper chuckled from behind me and I turned my head around to glance up at him.

“This is the best show ever,” he chuckled again, “But I’m proud of you.”

I didn’t think my cheeks could get any hotter, but they sure did. I felt like a fire has started on my face and it wasn’t letting down anytime soon.

“Eva?” Saxon asked and I looked up to meet his dark eyes that he had never taken off me.

“I asked you a question! What have you done to my sister? You’ve turned her into some love-struck bumbling fool!” Brody growled, glaring furiously at Saxon.

“Hey! I'm not no bumbling fool!” I snapped back, finally finding my voice to defend myself.

“Since when have you ever held any kind of emotion towards someone else?” Brody demanded as he snapped his head in my direction, not growling at me as loudly as he was at Saxon a moment ago.

“He is my mate you dumbass!” I snapped, almost shrieking.

“That never concerned you in the past!”

“Brody! Eva! Enough!” Travis’s voice bellowed over top of ours as I glared at my idiotic brother with more anger than I ever had before.

Brody backed down instantly at the Alpha command in Travis’s tone, but it had no effect over me. However, I did back down out of respect for my eldest sibling. Just because I was no longer a part of their pack, it didn’t mean I was going to ignore them or ignore Travis’s commands.

“Yeah bro’, I think you’re taking this protectiveness over Eva a little too far now,” Grant muttered as he slowly walked around my siblings to end up alongside me. Grant winked at me and I smiled back, he was on my side, they all were on my side and they all seemed to approve of my extra loud confession about Saxon.

Oh great, I moaned inside my head as I remembered Saxon was here. Slowly, I raised my eyes over to meet his and he grinned back at me. Standing there with his arms crossed over his chest and Vance besides him, who just looked bored out of his mind.
