~Chapter 7: Pinky Promise.~
[RYDER'S POV]
Zach looked up from his position on top of her; thankfully he still had his pants on. However, he seemed to be in the process of moving Lydia's shorts off of her, and both of their shirts had gone missing. He sneered at me before pinning her arms down as she tried to turn around to see me, "Get lost. We're busy."
"Lydia, tell me right now- do you want me to go?" I asked, clearly ignoring him. If she wanted to be with him, then fine. I don't like it, but I'll respect her wishes. There was silence as she squirmed quietly.
"Tell him to get lost," Zach snapped, angry she wasn't telling me off. She continued to try and break free of his grip, "Bitch, tell him!" he yelled as he lifted his hand to slap her. The sound of the contact rang through me, causing a rise of rage I didn't know I could feel.
"Don't touch her!" I growled as I ran over and punched him square across the jaw. It didn't have much effect on him, because he grinned at me crazily.
"I haven't had a brawl in a while," he laughed as he sat up, his legs still straddling Lydia.
"Ryder, just go!" Lydia screamed, tears streaming down her face as she tried to get up and stop the impending fight. I felt a small thrill go through me as she referred to me to by my first name in a while. Pushing the emotion down, I focused on Zach.
Curling my fists, I resisted the urge to hit him. "Come at me," I nodded, egging him on. Hopefully he'd get so ticked he'd chase me out, letting Lydia go free.
"Ryder! Go! Now." Lydia screeched, before Zach landed another smack. I couldn't resist as I tackled him off the bed, landing him on the ground. The air that was knocked out his lungs was audible and gave me immense pleasure as I punched him repeatedly.
"Don't ever touch her like that again!" I yelled each word with a punch.
Suddenly Lydia was pulling on me with a new urgency, "Ryder, stop. You don't know what he's willing to do. We need to leave, now."
I allowed her to pull me up and lead me away, "Wait, your shirt," I stopped, looking around for it. As much as I'd enjoy the view, I wouldn't be too happy about all the guys I'd have to beat up for enjoying it too.
"Zach!" Lydia screamed before pushing me behind her, gasping a split second later. She stumbled backwards into me, blood seeping through her hand that was clasped tightly over the wound.
Zach gave me a crazed look, the pocketknife dripping blood, "Look at what you did to her!"
My jaw dropped as I tried to figure out what to do. The rage in me was yelling at me to punish him for hurting her. I wanted so badly to kill him for hurting Lydia, but then she'd die. No, I need to get her to safety.
"What the hell!" Calvin exclaimed from the doorway before his brain fully processed the situation. He quickly picked up a baseball bat from the floor and went after Zach, allowing me to carry Lydia towards the hall.
"Calvin!" Naomi yelled before she took in the sight of us. "Lydia! Ryder! Ohmigawd, ohmigawd, ohmigawd," she mumbled as she frantically looked around. Zach had lost his pocket knife, but he was still holding up pretty well against Calvin. Once the psycho landed a punch to Calvin's chest... Naomi went bat shit crazy on him.
"Asshole! How dare you. You're going to pay for that you little bitch!" she screeched as she ran up behind him, smacking him over the head with a fold up chair. Zach instantly dropped to the floor, unconscious, "That's how it's done, boys," she said smugly before grabbing Calvin and running after me. I had already started to descend the stairs, trying to find a way to get her to safety.
"Ryder," the voice sent another tingly sensation through me. Today was the first day she called me by my real name since that day under the tree. Though she was bleeding all over me, it still managed to make me smile.
"Hold on, Lyd. I'm going to get you somewhere safe," I said in a calm voice. Even though I was freaking out inside, I needed to be calm for her.
She shook her head slowly, her eyelids fluttering, "You're going the wrong way. Dumbass, you don't even know where the clinic is."
Why does she always have to be right?
"Where do we go?" Naomi asked from beside me. Lydia sighed before leaning her head against my chest, as if it was becoming too heavy for her to hold up on her own.
