Later in the day, my mom ordered pizza, since we didn’t really have anything unpacked to actually cook with yet.
“So, You have another photo shoot on Friday, thats exciting.”
“Yeah, I guess.” I looked out the window.
“Whats up with you?” She looked at me confused. “You were all happy about this yesterday,”
“I’m sorry, I’ve just been..distracted.” I saw something move outside. I climbed on the counter to see what it was. There she was, walking...right this way...I jumped off the counter and set my pizza down on the table. My mom looked at me funny as I ran to the front door.
The second I got there, the doorbell rang. I swung the door open to find her staring back at me with Wide Green eyes.
“Hi,” She smiled.
“Hey..”
“Greyson? Who is it?” My mom called, she walked over to the door.
“I’m your neighbor, welcoming you to the neighborhood.” She smiled and handed my mom a plastic container. “My mom made you guys cookies,” She giggled.
I couldn’t stop staring at her.
“Well, I have to go..” She looked at me weird.
“Oh uh..ok..”
She smiled and waved at my mom. She kissed my cheek and left.
Surprised, I watched her turn around and leave. What the heck?
“What was that all about?” My mom looked down at me.
“Honestly, I have no idea.” I shook my head and closed the door.
I could hear my cellphone ring, so I walked back into the kitchen and looked at the screen to see who it was. My ex girlfriend, Jenna.
Great.
I should of ignored it, but I didn’t.
“Hello?”
“Hey Greyson..”
“Hi.”
“So..how are you?”
“Fine.” I rolled my eyes and went upstairs.
“Thats good..”
“Yeah. What did you want?” I tried not to sound rude, but I really, really didn’t want to talk to her.
“Just...just to say sorry, and I hope your having a good time..”
“Oh.” I bit my lip and started up the stairs to my room.
“Well..”
“I have to go.” I walked up to the window, and saw that girl out there again.
“All right,”
“Bye.” I put my finger on the ‘end’ button.
“Bye..I love you,”
“Sure,” I hung up.
As If.
I looked out the window again, and saw that girl laying sitting on her lawn..blowing bubbles. It made me laugh, I continued to watch her. Even as it begun to rain..she still stayed outside.
There was something different about her, something I’ve never seen before. I just couldn’t tell what it was. I didn’t even know her name, and really, with everything going on right now, I shouldn’t care...
But I can’t stop thinking about her...
