Who's Laughing Now

Thankfully I had gotten within hearing range quickly enough to find out the trial was still going on. I really didn't understand this trial one bit. My dad has been screwing a chick for how long now? And it's my mom that gets put on trial for going on a date? Well ya know what? Good for her. Heck she should be getting a medal or another date. At least something for moving on from her mate.

"I'm sorry to inform you Shelly but your alpha and I find you guilty for dating someone else for a few years now. The punishment is death or banishment. Which do you want," I heard my dad say bitterly.

Crap. Crap. Crap. I thought. Not once did it cross my mind that she would be found guilty. How could she? She was the perfect beta wife. She raised two kids and was always the mom involved in her kid's lives. No one knew what she went through or how her son sometimes treated her because of his dad. Now that I was back, everything was going to change and I was going to make sure of that.

Now I could start to see some of the stuff going on through the trees. My mom was on her knees in front of my dad. Her hands were tied behind her back and you could tell she had been crying from the tear tracks on her dirt streaked face. Even now she still looked as beautiful as ever and I still couldn't figure out how my dad could even think about being with anyone else but her. I saw her look down and take a deep breath before she looked back up at him.

"Kill me," I heard her say in a challenging tone. Right then and there I knew this was the moment. This would declare how much my dad really cared for her. I saw his face soften and look at her lovingly.

"Okay then. Gunner and Derek hold back Richard. Stefan you know what to do," I heard Gunner's dad say in his alpha tone. He must have known no matter what dad's wolf side would have taken over to protect his mate. Stefan was the person in the pack that was the one that killed hostages or people in the pack if they did something wrong. He lost his mate after they first met and he's been heartless ever since.

I pushed my legs as hard as they would go I. Stefan raised the gun up to his shoulder and aimed right as I got to the edge of the woods. As the gun went off I was halfway to my mom. I quickly stepped in front of my mom and grabbed the bullet out of midair. It was a small skill Cassie and I have been working on lately. Since it's the only weapon the hunters really use it's an extremely useful skill to have. Everyone was looking at me shocked but I leaned over, putting my hands on my knees and tried catching my breath.

"Hold on," I panted. "Just give me a sec to catch my breath."

"How did you do that," Gunner's dad demanded. I looked up at him confused. He motioned towards Stefan and I caught on.

"Oh. Easy. It's a small thing Cassie and I have been working on lately. Useful skill against hunters. So I'm here to serve as a lawyer type figure to prove my mother's innocence." My dad let out a low growl and I saw Gunner's dad look at me in shock.

"Do you have a degree or something," I heard dad's slut say. I looked at her like she was crazy and rolled my eyes.

"Do you have a degree to be a home wrecker," I replied. She looked at me insulted and shook her head. "Well then you should stop." I smiled at her sweetly as she glared at me.

"What are you doing here Bryce," my dad growled. He was still being held back by Gunner and Derek. Truth is Derek probably knew he would attack me at any given chance.

"Meh. Bored. I figured since I knew mom was innocent I would come and save her,"I shrugged. He got out of Gunner and Derek's hold and got something out of his pocket while he stormed towards me.

"Innocent to you," he yelled, holding up a picture. It was a picture of someone with my mom's hair kissing a brunette on the cheek. There was one problem with the picture. I knew that brunette.

Brynn.

"Impossible," I said bitterly. My heart felt shattered into thousands of pieces at the sight of him.

"How is that impossible! That is clearly your mother dearest kissing some other guy," he snarled. I let out a low deadly growl and he took a few steps backwards. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Lucy's hand nervously flutter towards her stomach and rubbed it. My eyes bulged out of their sockets and it all made sense to me. My dad saw what I was looking at and I saw him visibly get paler.

"You've got to be fucking kidding me dad," I growled.
