 Sometimes life can be frighteningly unpredictable

I have seen so many struggles, scars hidden; unnoticeable

But through those times, I have always remembered your face

The memory of your smile kept me going whenever I felt like such a disgrace

Years have passed, things have changed, but I never stopped loving you

My feelings for you never faltered; always staying true

Every day I pictured how my life could have been if I didn’t let you go

And maybe you could have pulled me out of my sorrow

But I did it for you, for your own sake

I wanted you to be happy, even though my own happiness was at stake

I regretted it, but I knew it was for the best

I did the right thing, even though it meant you go east and I go west

After everything that’s happened, I still keep you in my heart

Wishing and wondering, “What if we’d never been apart?”

But even though our story ended sadly

I want you to know that I gave you the best of me.
