Darkest Desires

            Seth threw his head back and laughed, breaking the tension around them. “D-did you h-hear him?” he laughed.

            Jackie cracked a small smile, taking hesitant steps towards the duo. She could hear her father give the two Enforcers an order to take Kane somewhere, but she didn’t really care.

            “Jackie?”

            She stopped in her tracks, not turning to look at him, waiting for him to speak.

            “He needs you Jackie.”

            Jackie’s wolf snarled at Kane and his words. If he had needed her so much, why throw her away? Now that things have gotten tough, he suddenly wants her back? No way. No. Way.

            “That’s just too bad Kane. He had his chance. I don’t need him in my life anymore,” she murmured before she walked over to Sethane and Seth with a smile on her face.

            It felt so good to let it all out – to someone from her past. What will happen to him now? Jackie didn’t care. They wanted her out of their lives – she is. It’s time they were too.

            “Come here baby,” she murmured as she went to grab Sethane. He grinned up at her, his dimples showing. Gah, her baby was such a little cutie just like his uncle. Speaking of uncles … “Have you been teaching Sethane swear words, Seth?”

            He grinned cheekily at her, throwing his arms over her shoulder as they made their way back in to the house. “Now why would I do something like that?”

            Jackie gave him a dry look. “Where else will my son learn that kind of language? His first words Seth!”

            “Hey,” he laughed, “it’s not like he actually said the word. He said ‘bish’ which could mean fish or beach … you know? That place where they have sand, sun and hot babes.”

            Jackie rolled her eyes, kissing Sethane’s little head. “You’re such an as-dork.”

            “Hypocrite,” he laughed.

            Jackie rolled her eyes as she leaned in closer to him, missing the warmth that was all Seth. “Whatever.”

            They walked in silence back in to the house, ignoring the wolf behind them whose heart rate had picked up, his breathing quickening with each step she took.

            With one last glance at Kane, Jackie finally closed the door to her past. She finally let it go.

            “We missed you Jacks.”

            “I missed you guys too.”

            Kane sat on his ass, watching the trio make their way into their house, his mind in a whirl. Her mother beat her? Jackie has a baby? Vane Shadowolf’s her father? Larry and Hailey set her up? That baby she’s holding … is that Larry’s kid?

            Hell, it was the only explanation! If Vane is Seth and Jackie’s father, then that makes them brother and sister. The blonde is obviously Vane’s mate so that baby … Sweet goddess Larry what the hell have you done!

            “What’re we going to do with him?”

            Kane’s head whipped to his left, weary at the females words. Surely they’re not going to kill him? He was here for Jackie! Nothing else! It’s not like he killed any of the wolves here anymore.
