My family spent the weekend in a beach house in Cape Cod. The bedrooms were upstairs so right away my brother and I went up to check them out. In my parents bedroom, we discovered something surprising- there was a crawl space, a little square door in the corner. That was when this weird kind of fear came over me, sort of like I shouldn't be there. I don't know if my brother felt it too, but he was afraid to go in the crawl space. And if my brother admits he's scared, then there is probably something to fear.

We went into our bedroom next, and there was a crawl space there too, and a door that led to a kind of attic. My brother right away chose the bed farthest from the crawl space and the attic, so I got stuck sleeping right next to them.

Later that day, I was upstairs in the bathroom, alone in the house. I was very nervous to be alone on the second floor, and I was on my way out when I heard the crawl space door open. Judging by the sound, something had come out of it. I decided not to tell anyone, because my parents wouldn't believe my and my brother would get scared.

That night, I was almost asleep. I knew everyone else in the house was sleeping, and it was silent. Then I was snapped awake by a crash coming from the crawl space. I wasn't really scared because I was so tired. That morning I was woken up by crows outside our window.
Crows symbolize death.

Later that day, I was alone in our bedroom putting socks on. The only light is this little pink lamp by my bed, and the windows don't let in much. All of a sudden the light went out. I checked to see if I had bumped the cord and accidently unplugged it, but it was still in the outlet. Then I heard this shuffling in the attic. Spooked, I ran out of the room.
Later that day, I figured out that nothing on the lamp was broken- the bulb was fine and it was plugged in. Nothing logical could have caused that lamp to go out.

The activity in that house was very subtle, but I was still thrilled to get out of there.
