Learning to Fall

Dear Mom and Dad,

Today's graduation day. It was weird packing up all of my stuff for good. I've been living here at Rosestone for almost 9 months now. Now I'm moving out and on my way to start college.

In three months I'll be off to NYU. After some thinking, I decided I'm going to double major in English and Psychology. And I had a long talk with Mr. Len. He told me he'd be really angry with me if I didn't continue with music in college. So I'm also doing a music minor.

Aiden's going to Julliard and we've already made plans to visit each other whenever we have long weekends. It's not that far from NYU, which is a good thing.

Ben got into Berkeley on a full scholarship. The nerd. He's going to study aerospace engineering. He made me promise him to Skype with him every week. I didn't really I have to promise him; I would have done that anyway.

Mikey's sad because I'm going to be going away for school. But he'll be in second grade and Nick promised me that he would take care of him. I guess the good thing about boarding school is that you get to live at school, just like college.

Aiden talked to his parents yesterday. He invited them to graduation. I'm nervous about meeting them. I'm glad he called. They're going to go out to dinner together, all of them, as a family. I'm happy for him; he's finally reached closure.

Life's finally been looking up for me. I still think about you all the time. I miss you, especially today, because when I go up there to get my diploma, I won't have anyone snapping a photo of me and cheering me on. But I know that you're watching me from where you are. And I hope you guys are happy. Your daughter's finally grown up and graduating high school. Such a big girl.
