44 - What happened?

Chapter 44

Naa. Something isn't right. I looked around the kitchen and saw nothing but blood. I was soo confused. Where could she have gone? And why did she even run away? I sat at the table with my head down trying so hard to remember exactly what had happened. The gunshots kept playing over and over again in my head. 4 gunshots. Damien took one.. Smirkz took the other so- .. I looked and straight at the back door. I realised that it wasn't shut properly.. I got up slowly and walked to the door.. a faint blood stain was on the handle. I opened it properly and went through his little garden. I opened the garden door and ended up at the back of an alley way. It was still dark but it didn't stop me from seeing her body on the floor. I ran to her body and tried to wake her up. No movement. Her face was cold and there was blood all over her.

"AYY!" I shouted "SOMEONE GET AN AMBULANCE! HURRY UP!"

A couple feds ran out and to her body. They radioed an ambulance and surrounded her body. The policewoman felt her pulse.. It felt like ages..

"I've found a pulse. A very very weak pulse. If we don't get her to a hospital as soon as possible we WILL lose her!"

I woke up in Darnell's hospital room. I looked at the clock. It was 11 in the morning. I sighed and got up and stretched. I opened the curtains and looked outside. It was such a nice day but I wasn't in the mood. Oh yeah ..Cassie. I left the room and found my way to Cassie's room. I opened her door and there was a doctor in there. She smiled at me as I stood next to Cass.

"Any news?" I asked her

"Well, she's currently in a coma. We've had to put her on life support ..her body is struggling to function properly. To be honest we're actually surprised that she has managed to survive so long. We've taken out the two bullets that were in her. One was found in her chest and the other in her belly. The bullet was 3" away from her heart so she has had a very lucky escape however, we don't know how long we can keep her on life support for. If her body feels as if it can no longer function it will shut down. We can't predict how long she has to live." The doctor explained

She rubbed my back as she left the room. I sat down. I can't believe what i'd just heard. Cassie- ..She could die? I rubbed my face and then looked at her. She looked so weak. Her face looked lighter than normal. I held her hand. They were cold. I looked at the machine and back to Cassie. She had to firm this. She can't die now. We need her. Darnell needs her.

After spending an hour in Cassie's room, I finally made my way to Darnell's room. I dragged my feet across his room and sat next to him. He was finally awake but he looked pissed.

"Any sign of her?" he asked

I looked down at my trainers and sighed.

"Err.. She um- ..I don-"

"She's gone innit? She left?" He interrupted kissing his teeth

"Huh? She aint goin-"

"Yes she was!" He interrupted me again. "Before the drink up she was leaving ends, she was moving into her grandmas yard"

"Chill man, she's in the next room" I said.

He looked at me confused. I sighed once again ..

"Smirkz she took a bullet for us man. She got shot twice and tried to escape. For what reason I do not know but she did. I found her behind your garden in that alleyway early this morning and now she's next door on life support. But doctors don't know how long they can hold onto her for.. Fam.. We might lose her".

"Fam, we might lose her.."

His words went round and round in my head. I zoned out after that. I didn't know what to say or think.
