Chapter 20: FINAL CHAPTER
"Meet me at your house. It's important. - Jay"
I sighed, closing my phone and looked over at Riley and Christopher. They both looked so peaceful. Riley's pretty blonde hair was swaying as Christopher pushed her higher and higher on the swing. Riley's squeals seemed to make Christopher happier and I couldnt help but be touched at how fond of her he was starting to get. Riley was almost impossible to dislike but I was afraid that neither Christopher nor Riley would like each other. At that moment everything wouldve been perfect------- If Christopher wasnt the gang leader of the most dangerous gang in Brooklyn, New York. If only Christopher were a regular nineteen year old guy. However, he wasnt.
But that didnt stop me from loving him.
Everything about him was wrong ---- he's dangerous, has no money to offer me, and doesnt have any morals ---- yet he has everything to offer me. He's romantic, sweet, spontaneous and is surprisingly not that bad with children. Everything about Christopher was complicated. He had nothing but everything to offer me.
"Christopher, Riley and I have to go home." I said, not wanting to go.
Christopher frowned, not liking the idea. "Why?"
"Something came up. I'll take you home."
He shook his head, helping Riley out of the swings. "No, it's fine. I have to go somewhere anyways."
Riley frowned. "We were just getting started."
"I know hun," I said walking with her to the car. "but it's important."
When we got the the house, Riley's face lit up as she saw Jay waiting by our front porch.
He was dressed in black jeans, combined with a black comfortable shirt that attracted attention to the muscle on his arms but something about him was different. He still looked as handsome as ever but there was something about him that was different..but I couldnt put my finger on it.
"Jay!" Riley yelled happily, jumping to hug him.
Jay caught her, hugging her back. "Hey, beautiful."
"It's my birthday today!"
Jay smiled. "I know. I got you something."
He handed a wrapped present to Riley and let her go gently. Riley roughly ripped the wrapper off and gasped as she saw what the present was. It was Taylor Swift's perfume, Wonderstruck.
"Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! This is the best present ever!" She squealed.
Jay laughed and I smiled at her happiness.
I opened the door and let them inside the house, Riley running to the bathroom to try on her new perfume. Once she was far away enough, I looked at Jay. "What happened?"
"We have to make our move today," He said with a weird look in his eyes. "We're finally going to beat Walker in his own game."
His voice was filled with greed and malice.
"I'm not going to do it." I said, my voice firm and more confident than I felt.
Many emotions flashed in Jay's face --- from anger, to dissapointment and finally to rage.
"You're going to do it whether you want to or not. Christopher isnt a nice guy! Get that through your head!" He yelled, making me jump. "If you dont do something now you'll regret it. He can hurt someone else, Rose! How would you feel if he killed someone and you knew that if you had turned him in then you could've saved somebody's life?"
"We can do something else! I can get him out of the gang, Jay! He loves me!" I pleaded.
Jay laughed at me. "Has he ever actually told you he loved you, Rose?"
I wanted to yell at him that he had told me he loved me and that he would leave the gang for me but I realized that he never had told me he loved me. Not once.
Jay smirked as he realized he was right. "Now let go of those ridiculous thoughts of yours and come back to reality. You're going to help me catch him. I cant do this without you, Rose."
He grabbed my hand tenderly and looked at me in the eyes. "If you do this with me, Riley can have the life you want her to have. She wont have to walk the streets afraid of what will happen to her, she'll have financial stability and she'll get to go to college and become something of herself. Isnt that what you want?"
