I am Alone (Holocaust Poem)

I am Alone

The Nazis came.

They took my Moma.

I am alone.

They are coming.



I just know.

I am hiding.

I am alone.

I am terrified.



What do I do?

I have never been alone before.

I miss her.

So much.



I am alone.

Marching.

I can hear them marching towards me.

What do I do?



Heart pounding.

I can hear my heart pounding in my chest.

I am alone.



I miss her.

I want my Moma back.

Where did they take her?

Moma told me to run-so I ran.

I am alone.



Will they find me?

Will they take me to Moma?

Will I ever see her again?

I want Moma.



I hear cries all around me.

"How could you!?"

"I'm more German than you are!"

"Run! They are coming!"



Voices and cries all around me.

Haunting me like a ghost.

I am panicked.



I can see them.

I hold my breath.

I pray with all that is in me, that they don't find me.



I am alone.

I don't want to be alone.

They found me.

I am no longer alone.
