Chapter Twenty-Seven: We Wound Love

Everything moved in slow motion. Smoke was released as Jamanj’s gun went off. I watched as a trail of blood suddenly appeared on his forehead. Jamanj pushed his dark hair away from his pale face and looked at me. A moment later, thick dark blood appeared on his palm.

“What did you do!” He shouted.

Aliana’s throat release a high pitched scream as the gun in her hand fell to the ground and made a loud noise.

“No!” Jamanj shouted as he reached out his hand and fell to his knees.

                “I finished this.” She grunted.

Blood appeared to flow out of his mouth and down his shirt.

For a moment, I felt relief.

Then I looked down at my shirt.

“What happen?” I asked as I lifted my right hand and touched my stomach.

A sinking feeling found its way down my body. Pain shock me and I realized what happened and why.

Jamanj’s gun went off and shot me.

                “Call an ambulance!” Aliana screamed.

I felt a warm liquid ooze down my shirt. There was so much blood that both my hands were covered in it. I began to feel cold and then a white light exploded around me.

                “Liliana!” A voice called out.

My ears were ringing and I felt like I wanted to move toward the voice. I tried but I couldn’t. My body felt like it was made out of lead. I tried to move but my limbs wouldn’t allow me.

“Liliana!” The person called out again.

This time I tried to open my eyes. I was in a brightly lit room. The person standing above me was Gage. His concerned eyes were laced with red. I could tell that he was sleep deprived. Behind him were white walls and a machine that made a beeping sound. I was in a hospital and Gage stood over me.

                “Are you okay?” He asked.
