Episode 1: Her Cousin, Visiting
“♪O Mistress,” a deep voice of a man cried after the sound of a door just nearby had been whipped open then slammed closed right away. “Mistress, where have you gone?” the voice repeated again in the same tone now getting closer.
I sighed to myself as I brought my fingers up to beginning to rub my temples after hearing that penetrating voice that continued to call for me and after comprehension that letter. The letter had been sent to me from the Queen of England that had the letter written in her own hand. What it had said was quite a disappointment to me, so I glanced at an ivory tea cup with silvery markings that was right next to a black top hat with some dark liquid inside it. Both items sat on a dark oak desk along with a white owl feather with ink, but those were the only things that remained on the desk. I looked around the room seeing it was very cavernous with many bookshelves, and was tiled with pure white marble along with creamy colored walls. There were white curtains tied beside the windows’ saddle brown colored fames. My eyes returned down to the desk to glance at my left hand before me. It had a marking of four triangles that were cut off into two circles. In the inner circle of the two, an eight-sided star with a circle inside of it. The final circle had a five-sided star with a Japanese Kanji that meant ‘sword’. I closed my eyes and took a sip of a sweet tasting tea. It was a smoothing moment until…….
“Why there you are, my Lady. I have been looking for you since dusk,” smiled the voiced now with a more joyful tone.
I opened my eyes and looked up to see the man that was looking for me. The man appeared to be in his early forty’s with a very tall height of six foot five graceful build. His beady eyes were the color of wild green grass in a meadow undisturbed with matching green glasses over them. His green eyes contacted from his shoulder length luxurious, straight brown auburn hair. This man wore an outfit just like any other butler would wear. The first thought a person would think of after seeing him at a moment notice would be arrogant. I sighed in my thoughts, ‘Why must mine be so abnormal compared to most others? I can see why people can just into the conclusion of him being arrogant; however, he has proven that he has been always loyal to me.’
“My dear Mistress,” he spoke continuing his cheerful tone that sounded like he was mocking bird. “Here was where you where this whole time. I had hoped you would be in your chamber, so I could wake you at seven o’clock; after all most people do sleep in on the weekends.”
I shook my head as I put down my tea. I put my right hand in a fist then placed it under my jaw and began to spoke with a honeyed tone, “Now Charles, you should know better than all people that I am not one of the average person therefore there is no need for you to wake me at all. I am always awake at five no matter what, besides I can dress myself so that is another reason why you do not need to enter my room to wake me. “
“……what about ‘your’ corset?” Charles raised his eyebrow. “A woman should always wear one or else they are not properly dressed without one.”
“In my opinion, a woman doesn’t really have to wear it all the time…it is an option. I think that the only time that a woman should wear a corset when there is a guest at the house or they are going out,” I answered with a modulated voice putting on my black top hat with a dark blue slash. “I am just surprised that women have not died because of that thing and that it is not a leading cause of women’s death.”
“Yes I as well, but may I ask on how do woman handle wearing a corset?” he questioned me.
“You learned how not to breath, and if you do not believe me then I will tie a corset on you,” I remarked. “So I most likely bet that a corset is an invention made by a man.”
“……Mistress,” spoke the butler. “You are dressed in your blue caplet, pants and boots along with a corset. May if I ask if you are going to the government court?”
I rose from my chair and walked in front of the window beginning to stare out into the scenery. The window showed the city of London with its busy streets with two horses’ carriages. My hands hooked together behind my back, “No, the Queen has let me have today off, so I am going to visit my dear Cousin Ciel for two weeks. I asked the Queen if I may take two week off to take in the news in, and she accepted my request.”
