Death's Game

I landed with a thud but managed to stay on my feet. "Hey! Who- Um, where am i?" I was going to ask who pushed me but my second question seemed more important. I wasn't on the street anymore.

I was in a dark, grey, office and there was a man, sitting at the desk, doing paper work.

"Who are you!?! And where is this place? I was on the street a second ago and now I'm in some low rate office!" I demanded.

"You know some people consider it rude when others barge into their place of work demanding who they are and what they are doing when it should be the other way around." He replied.

Oops. "I'm sorry. You're right I shouldn't have said those things but I'm really flustered at the moment," I can't believe I just yelled at the guy who could be the only, no; he is the only person who could help me. Seeing as how no one else is in the room, I got really nervous.

"Please sit down Elizabeth I shall explain everything. Oh, and I forgive you," He said.

"How do you know my name?" I asked. I was beginning to feel very concerned.

"Elizabeth, every soul that walks though my door had a name, a life, and a belief. It is my job to know these things and guide that soul to their proper 'door'," he said as he was looking through some files pulling one out.

"Had...souls. What are you talking about? I am a person! I have a life! I have beliefs! DON'T TALK LIKE I'M DEAD AND GONE! I'M HERE AND VERY MUCH ALLIVE!!!" There I went again, yelling, but this guy was really upsetting me. No, it wasn't just him, it was the entire place. The very air in the room seemed to have no life in it at all.

Then very calmly, like was repeating something he said every day, "But you are dead Elizabeth. For I am Death and nothing living walks into my office."
