Elena’s P.O.V

That same afternoon, I got a knock on my front door. I smiled, and then opened the front door to see Damon on the doorstep.

“Where’s Bonnie?” He asked.

“Where’s my moonstone? I’m assuming you didn’t bring it with you.” I said, leaning against the door frame.

“Where’s Bonnie?” He repeated, glaring at me with his gorgeous baby blues.

“She’s not here. She’s well hidden. You won’t find her. But you can always try and see if she’s in here…but oh yeah…only a human can invite you in, and my fiancé’s away. What a shame!” I smirk at his annoyed frown. “You know, you could always just give me the moonstone.”

“Give me a good reason as to why I shouldn’t just rip your heart out from your chest?”

“Because you still love me. And Klaus will destroy this town and everyone in it, if he gets wind of where I am and I’m dead when he arrives.” I smiled, sweetly.

“You know about Klaus?”

“Of course I do! I’m not an idiot, Damon. I’m best friends and the occasional drunken lover of his elder brother and I always find out when someone wants me.” I smirk, looking at him up and down, noting that he looked like he was slightly drunk.

“You‘ve slept with Elijah? Gross. He‘s like a couple thousand years older than you.” Damon looked disgusted.

“He doesn’t look it. Besides, pot calling the kettle black on your part. I’ve slept with you, I assume, and you are one hundred and forty something years older than me.”

“That’s different!”

“I thought you came here to negotiate, not talk about my sex life? I have places to be, witches to kill.”

“Bonnie is you niece’s mother!” Damon protested, his eyes widening at the thought of me killing someone who’d brought something as precious as that little girl into this world.

“Who says I was talking about the Bennett witch? There are plenty of witches that I am currently having someone hunt down.”

“Why?”

“You’ll find out when I want you to. My game, my rules, remember?” I laughed.

“Just give me Bonnie.”

“Nope. I want the moonstone.”

“I don’t care about Klaus. I’ll kill you unless you give us back Bonnie.”

“Who says that in a fight you’d win?”

“I’m older and therefore stronger than you.”

“Oh, I see. Does that mean I should be shaking at the mere thought of getting into a physical confrontation with you? Because you don’t scare me, Salvatore. Never have, never will.” I say.

“Come out here, and say that.” Damon glared at me, his whole body tensed, ready to pounce.

“Sometimes I think you want someone to actually cower away from you in pure fear. And like I said, Salvatore, you don’t scare me. I mean, someone so hot could never be frightening. Especially when I have the advantage.”

“What advantage do you have?” Damon asked, curiously.

“One last chance. Hand over the moonstone,” I said, with a bright smile, although I was really offering him a dark ultimatum. He just smirked in response and I counted to ten in my head. “Okay, Cassie, you can have your fun now!” I called to my dear friend.

She appeared behind him, and smiled at me. Then Damon doubled over as Cassie popped the blood vessels in his brain over and over again. Nora appeared at my side, and leaned her chin on my shoulder.

“He’s quite cute. I see why you like him.”

“If you think he’s cute, you should see his brother. Stefan is cute, Damon is hot. But Stefan is nice, and Damon’s not.” I crossed my arms.

“So, naturally, you like Damon. Does that mean I’ve got dibs on the other brother?” I’ve always liked a mean guy, which is why it baffles my other friends as to why I’m with Alex. He’s such a nice guy its unbelievable.

“He’s taken, unfortunately. If he wasn’t, he’d still be off limits.”

We continued our conversation, while Cassie concentrated real hard on Damon, and we ended up just waiting for him to cave in. In his defence, he took a lot longer to give in than most do.

“I’ll give you the Moonstone, but only if you can prove that Bonnie is alive.”

“Hey, Bonnie! Come show, Damon, you’re alive and well.” I call.

The Bennett witch appears on my other side, and Cassie walks into the safe confines of the house. I wrap my arm around Bonnie, and smile.
