“Hey, how’re you feeling?” I asked Isaac who was sitting down on Derek’s bed looking a little nervous.

“Yeah, I feel fine, I just want to know where they are. Can’t believe I don’t remember.” He replied.

“It’s not your fault.”

“That doesn’t change anything.”

“Look, Peter will be here soon and he can help.”

“Peter? Really?”

“He’s been helping us with Boyd and Erica and hasn’t crossed us.” Isaac gave me a blank stare. “Okay, fine, he hasn’t crossed anyone since he was brought back from the dead, but you didn’t know him before so you’re not allowed to hold a grudge.” I said correcting myself.

“Anna, I think you’ve been spending far too much time with my uncle.” Derek said from his desk chair. He’d been flicking through pages of some old book.

I got up and walked over to him, hugging him from behind and placing a kiss on his cheek. “You’re the one that asked him to help in the first place, remember?” I said, not expecting an answer, which of course was the case. I did however get a nice glare. Another five minutes passed and I was sprawled out on Derek’s bed while Isaac paced up and down the room, clearly getting more anxious by the second.

“You know I’m starting not to like this idea. Sounds kinda dangerous.” He said as he turned around to do another lap of the window.

“Really?” I said in a sarcastic tone, which he ignored and turned around again.

“You know what, I definitely don’t like this idea and I definitely don’t like him.” He said, but directed it at Derek.

“You’ll be fine.” Derek said.

“Does it have to be him?”

“He knows how to do it. I don’t. It’d be more dangerous if I tried doing to myself.” Derek explained.

“You know Scott doesn’t trust him right? And personally I trust Scott.” Isaac said.

“You trust me?”

“Yeah.” Derek looked at him as if he had the answer. There was no getting out of it. “I still don’t like him.”

“Nobody likes him.” Derek said, returning to his book.

The main door to the apartment was suddenly opened and in stepped Peter. “Boys, FYI coming back from the dead has left my abilities somewhat impaired, but my hearing still works. So I hope you’re comfortable saying whatever it is you’re feeling straight to my face.” Peter said with a cocky edge to his voice.

“We don’t like you.” Derek said and then closed his book loud enough to make an echo while throwing it on the table.

“She does.” Peter said, pointing to me. I returned his comment with a glare.

Derek, however, did not like this, “Shut up and help us.” He said with no emotion while standing up.

“Fair enough. Isaac, you’re going to want to sit down.” Peter replied while I stood up from the bed and walked over to Derek. He placed one hand on my waist while we waited for Isaac to take his seat. “You’re also going to have to relax. I’ll get more out of you if you’re calm.” Peter said while walking behind a now seated Isaac and pulling out his claws.

“How do you know how to do this again?” Isaac asked.

“It’s an ancient skill used mostly by alphas, since it usually requires quite a bit of practise.” Peter explained, “One slip and you could paralyse someone or kill them.” He seemed to remain quite calm.

His last two words made me flinch which caused Derek’s grip around my waist to tighten. “You’ve had a lot of practise though right?” I said, sounding nervous.

“Well I’ve never paralysed anyone before.” Peter said looking at me.

“Wait does that mean that you’ve…” Isaac was cut off by Peter digging his nails into the back of Isaac’s neck. I again flinch and started moving forward, not really knowing what I was doing. Derek place his other hand on my shoulder and pulled me closer to him to stop me from doing anything. Isaac looked like he was in pain.

His eyes turned gold as Peter’s turned blue. “I see them.” Peter said. Another minute or two passed before he finally pulled back and Isaac fell forward in his seat. This time Derek let me go. I knelt down in front of him to see if he was okay. Not dead and not paralysed. Good sign.

“What’d you see?” Derek asked Peter.

“Ah, it was confusing. Images, vague shapes.” Peter said. He looked a little worn out.

“But you saw something.”

“Isaac found them.”

“Erica and Boyd?”

“I barely saw them, glimpses.”

“But you did see them.”

“Worse.”

“Deucalion.” Derek said for him.

“He was talking, something about time running out.”

“What does it mean?” Isaac asked. I stood up and moved behind him, placing one hand on his back.

“He’s gunna kill them.” Derek said.

“No, no, no, he didn’t say that. He made them a promise that by the full moon they’d both be dead.”

My heart started pounding out of my chest, “The next full moon?” I asked, praying the answer was no.

“Tomorrow night.”

Great.
