"CONGRATULATIONS!!!" everyone yelled when Clarke walked through the door of the luxury cabin. She patted her wavy beach blonde hair and gave a tinkling laugh.
"You guys!" she whined in a fake voice. Noelle rolled her eyes and pasted a smile on her face, readying herself for hours of torture. "You're all so sweeet!" Clarke continued to squeal, "I totally had no idea!" Noelle snorted, 'Right', she thought. 'More like she demanded a surprise party be thrown for her. She practically planned it, down to the color theme. Pink, of course.' Ingrid elbowed Noelle and gave her a look.
"What?" Noelle mouthed.
"Be nice," Ingrid whispered, "She's your cousin. You should be happy for her."
"So," Noelle whispered back, "and I would be happy for her if she wasn't such a stuck up bitch, rubbing her engagement in my face every chance she got!"
At that moment Clarke floated over to Noelle and gave a sickly sweet smile, "Noelle, you're the best cousin ever! I can only hope that one day, you'll be just as happy as I am. I'm sure you'll find love eventually; it just takes longer for some people. Much longer."
"Aww thanks Clarence," Noelle said sarcastically, returning the smile. The sarcasm rolled off of Clarke, but the jab at her name didn't. She narrowed her eyes and gave a small huff of annoyance before walking away.
"So what are the plans?" Clarke asked, knowing full well what the schedule was.
"Well," her best friend, Emma said in a peppy voice, "we thought we'd do a fun game first! It's like M.A.S.H. but with a twist! We're going to use names of the bachelors attending the party and whichever one you're paired up with via M.A.S.H. you have to kiss before the wedding!" Some of the girls squealed in delight, giggling over the prospect of getting to kiss eligible bachelors. Emma gave Clarke a sly look, "You too, Clarke!"
Clarke rolled her eyes and laughed softly, "Of course, I'd never back down from a challenge. Maybe we should do Noelle's first though. Since she needs a kiss the most!"
On opposite sides of Noelle, Ingrid and Delilah grabbed her arms and squeezed lightly, reminding her that killing Clarke wasn't going to solve any problems. Noelle took a deep breath and smiled at Emma, "Bring it on," she said brightly, all the while thinking, 'Kill me now.'
"I'll draw the names," Clarke announced, taking the pink lingerie bag from Emma. She reached in slowly, and picked out three cards. Pausing dramatically she opened the first one. An evil smile curved on her perfect pink lips as she announced the first name, "Christopher Reynolds." A couple of the girls chuckled, thinking about what it would be like to kiss Chris.
"Don't be mean girls," Clarke said, "He could be Noelle's true love. You never know, one kiss from the stuttering accountant and it could be history!" Noelle clenched her jaw and started to count in German, trying to resist the urge to rip off every one of Clarke's perfectly manicured nails. One. By. One.
Clarke pouted when she read the next name, "Travis Panaway." The best man. Noelle was relieved; if she had to go through with this stupid ritual, she would rather it be with someone decent looking. Nothing against Chris, she just didn't want to have to kiss him. And he might get the wrong idea, where Travis the Manwhore would take it in stride and never think twice about it.
"The last name is..." Clarke said shrilly, drawing everyone's attention back to her, "Carrick Dansk." She snickered when she read that last name, "Good 'ole cousin Carrick...at least he's cute." Noelle looked at Ingrid and Delilah and grinned, all three of them were thinking of the movie Mean Girls and the scene where Karen was talking about her cousin Seth. 'So, you have your cousins, and then you have your first cousins, and then you have your second cousins...'
