The Shifter (pokemon fanfic)
I saw a girl leaving the house, she was definitely a trainer. A Piplup bounced around her feet, clearly happy. "Dawn are you sure you have everything? and do you know where Ash is meeting you?" The lady on the porch asked. "Yes mom, now I'd better go or I'm going to be late!" Dawn said. I grinned, I should follow her and see if she could help me get back home! Dawn picked up the Piplup and turned towards the road, bag nestled securely on her shoulders. "Bye mom!" She called before running off down the road. I chased after her, trying not to be seen.
I followed her to the next town, all the way to the docks. Eventually I lost her. there were several boats docked and a large plane being loaded. I grinned, it was a Unova plane! I ran towards it and snuck my way onto the plane. "I'm going home!" I thought happily.
During the flight I hid under people's seats. I made my way through the different rows with ease. I kept looking for Dawn. Luckily, fate was on my side and I found her in one if the back rows. The seat next to her was empty and without thinking, I jumped up onto it. She was reading a magazine and didn't notice. I poked her leg with my paw. She didn't react. I poked her again. This time she looked down at me.
She gasped. "What kind of Pokemon are you?!" She pulled out a pink Pokédex.
"Zorua, the Tricky Fox Pokémon. Zorua hides its true form by changing its shape into people and Pokémon, and loves to surprise people." The Pokédex dinged.
I decided to use telepathy to talk to her. "Are you Dawn?" I asked, tilting my head. "You can talk?!" I shook my head. "Its telepathy, and I need your help." I said, sitting on the seat. "My help?" she asked. I nodded. "I got separated from my dad and chased here. I've been running from these bad guys for a week." I said, washing my paws. "And you want me to help you get back to your home?" I nodded. She smiled.
"I'll help you out. When the plane lands, you can come with me to meet an old friend of mine. I'm sure he'd love to help too." She said. I grinned. "Okay, wake me up when we get there." I said, before falling asleep on the seat.
My eyes snapped open. I wasn't on the plane anymore, and two guys and a girl were calling for Dawn to come over there. I realized Dawn was carrying me. "Hey Dawn? Can you punt me down?" I asked. "Sure." she set me on the ground. "This way!" I followed her towards the small group. "Dawn, long time no see." The shorter guy said. Dawn laughed. "Same old Ash. How have you and Pikachu been doing?" "Great!" Ash said. "Pika Pikachu!" Pikachu said happily, before jumping off Ash's shoulder and onto Dawn.
"How did you get a Zorua?" The other girl asked, the first to notice me. "Funny story..." Dawn started. I decided to speak up. "She's helping me get back to my dad." I started washing my paw. "Did that Zorua...just talk?" Ash asked. "It's using telepathy." The taller guy said. I nodded. All of a sudden, I started to glow. "What the?!" They all freaked. After I finally stopped glowing I looked down at myself and smiled. "Yay!" I yelled.
They all looked at me like I was an alien. I collapsed on the ground. "I'm so glad to be me again!" "But you were just a Zorua, how did you?" Dawn asked. "Easy. I was a regular girl a few weeks ago, then Team Plasma found me and turned me into a Zorua. I ran away to escape and now that I'm back in Unova, I can actually be me. When I was in Sinnoh I was stuck as a Zorua. Here I can freely change between being me, and being the Zorua." I explained, sitting cross-legged on the ground.
"By the way, my name is Maddison." I stood up and dusted myself off. "I'm Iris." The other girl said. "I'm Cilan." I smiled. "Wait, isn't your father the famous scientist that invented a machine to communicate with Pokemon?" Iris said. I nodded. "Team Plasma used that machine to turn me into Zorua." I said. "There was a news article about your disappearance. It also said something about an evil man trying to use a Zorua to take people's Pokemon. But the Zorua ran off and disappeared. That must have been you."
I nodded again. "So...where are we?" I asked, looking around. "Humilau City." I gasped. "I'm a long way from home!" "Where do you live?" Cilan asked. "Driftveil City." I replied. "That is a long way." Ash muttered. "Just great! Now how am I going to get home?! I don't even know where Humilau City is on a map!" I huffed. "I promised to help you an I will, I never break my promises!" Dawn said, determined. My face broke out in a huge smile.
"Thanks Dawn!" "Don't count us out! We'll help you out too!" Ash said. "Thanks guys. Now c'mon, what are we waiting for?" I said before running off, now Zorua.
