Chapter 1:

Trent’s POV:

5 years old…

Aubrey pulled me outside to show me a frog. I think frogs are cool and it was cool that my Belle thought they were cool too. She was so pretty. I like her a lot and always have. She was now looking down and I saw the frog she was talking about. Any other time I would have been really happy but seeing Belle it didn’t matter,

“Belle? Can I asked you somfin?” I asked. She looked at me and smiled,

“Sure Tree. What is it?” She asked. Gosh she sounded so smart all the time too!

“Will you marry me?” I asked. Her eyes lit up and I felt a smile spread across my face. She was so…as daddy says to momma, ’beautiful’, it made me want to make her smile all the time!

“Okay!” She agreed. I was shocked she said yes,

“Really?” I asked. She giggled and nodded,

“Of couwse Tree! You my bestes friend!” I grinned big and I went on impulse and kissed her. She was shocked. So was I! I can’t believe I just kissed a girl. But it kind of hurt since I did it hard and we hit our teeth together. We pulled back stunned and she looked like she was thinking hard,

“I don’t see why mommy and daddy do that all the time. It’s not that fun. How ‘bout we stick to…holding hands?” She suggested. I agreed quickly and was happy she wasn’t mad at me. I’d be very sad if she was. She took my hand and I felt a smile come to my face as she dragged me back to the house.

“Tree and I are getting married!” I heard Belle yell. I smiled at that and shyly walked in. Mrs. Hunter bent down slightly to her,

“What do you mean honey?” She asked her. Belle smiled really, really big showing off her awesome missing tooth. Mine’s still wiggling but it’s getting there!

“I was showing Tree Kermit! And I was laughing at how little Kermit was hopping when out of no where Tree as me to marry him! Isn’t that great mommy?!…Daddy? Are you okay? You look sick.” I looked over to Belle’s dad and he did look like he ate a worm! I hope he’s okay because my Belle loves her daddy.

“He’s alright Honey Bee, he just feels like he losing you to Trent.” My ears perked up at that. Why would he lose her? I just want to marry her so I can love her forever and ever. Belle skipped over to her dad and smiled up at him,

“Daddy? I’ll always be here, no matter what! I’ll always need a dancing partner!” Her dad leaned down and kissed her head, but he still looked kind of sad,

“Good.” Belle ran over to me and I looked down at my shoes since there were so many eyes on me. I don’t like attention that much, it makes my face get hot,

“Trent?…So you want to marry my daughter?” Belle’s mom asked. I looked up at her and nodded slowly as she looked like she was thinking,

“Well…I think you’re a little young but,…how about you two stay engaged until you’re old enough?” She asked me. I felt my eyebrows come together,

“When will that be?” I asked in a small voice,

“You’ll know.” Was all she said. Suddenly Belle pulled on my arm,

“Okay mommy! Tree and I have to go upstairs and play!” She was trying to bring me upstairs with her so we could play. Her mom quirked an eyebrow,

“Bree? I thought you said boys have cooties? How are you supposed to kiss when you’re married if Trent has cooties?” She asked. Oh no! What if she now remembers and doesn’t like me anymore!

“My Tree doesn’t have cooties.” She said and pulled me upstairs. I couldn’t help the big smile on my face. Plus we already kissed so it wouldn’t matter, although I don’t think we’d do it again! It kind of hurt. We got to her room which was all purple since it was her favorite color,
