The Butt Empire - Chapter 1 - A strange light

This story, even though the title may suggest otherwise, is meant for children age 6-9 and adults with a (childish, like me, haha!) sense of humor. It does not contain any strong language, other than the word butt, but I don't think it will cause children to pick it up as foul language, just as something funny.

I already wrote this story in Dutch a while ago, because A. that's my native language and B. in Dutch there's a saying:

Your mind is like a sieve - in Dutch we say: If you're but wasn't attached to you, you'd forget it. Hence, I came up with the idea for this story... Hope you are intrigued by this explanation and will (let (your) children) read it.

Keep in mind: in Dutch the story works well, I will try to translate it both by sticking true to the original meaning in Dutch to English and the storyline.

ON WITH THE FIRST CHAPTER:

Chapter 1 -  A strange light

This story is about a young girl named Rowena.

Rowena is always forgetting things. She's so forgetfull that people sometimes tell her: "Rowena, you would lose your butt if it wasn't attached to the rest of your body!"

 Rowena knows she's always forgetting things. She can not help it. She has tried so much to stop forgetting things. She tried tying a string to her wrist, used a pen to draw a cross on her hand, set an alarm on her watch, wrote a note. But she forgot to decently tie the knot on the string. She accidentally wiped the cross off of her hand. She forgot to change the battery in her watch and she lost the note.

What can she do? She is growing desperate. Every night she dreams that she has forgotten something very important, but she can not remember what it is. She then wakes up crying.r huilend wakker van.

 This night is no different. In her dream, Rowena is in her room looking for something. But she can not remember what she is looking for. It is something very important and she has to find it quickly, because she has to go to school soon. Without this thing she is supposed to find, she can not go. But she can not be late for school as well, because she will be put in the corner. Crying, she wakes up. Thank goodness, it was just a dream...

Reluctantly she tries to go back to sleep, until she sees something strange in her room. A light is shining from under her closet door. Astonished she turns on her night lamp and gets out of bed and walks over to her closet. She opens the door and is stupefied; the entire interior of her closet is gone! Instead she sees a small tunnel with a lot of small lamps on the ceiling and in the walls. At the end of the tunnel there is a different light. 

Rowena does not want to have another nightmare so she decides that instead of going back to bed she wants to check out the tunnel. Maybe she can find out where that other light is coming from. She puts on her slippers and walks into her closet. She leaves the door open so she can find her way back.

Fortunately it is not cold in the tunnel. That is a good thing, because Rowena forgot to put on her coat and only has her pyjamas and slippers on.

So as I said in the beginning: will you please let me know what you think of this story? I will try to translate the rest of the story as soon as I can, but I've got a few other things I am also working on, so I can't guarantee it will be quick.
