I walk down the hallways thinking about what just happened. The day went as I expected it, from bad to worse. I’m still stuck with Danielle as my partner. How is this going to work? I have no idea. But there is this constant thought nagging in the back of my mind. What is so special about her student file? Why does she refuse to work with other classmates besides Nicholas? What makes him different?
I'm so caught up trying to figure out a way to work this whole mess out that I even forgot to ask Matt for a ride. How the hell am I going to get home? Funny that even though I have a car I don’t drive it to school. My car doesn’t fit in with this school. For goodness sake there is even a student with a Lamborghini Reventon. Sweet ride by the way. Takes 3.3 seconds to reach 60 mph and it has a top speed of 211 mph. Last time I checked that car was over 1.5 million. I can't imagine how my Ford Focus would look beside that beast of a car. Besides I don’t even want to know what these shallow people would think or do if they saw me driving my car.
I sigh as I make my way to the parking lot, praying to find Matt there. I scan the cars in the parking lot until I find him. He's still here! He is my best friend for a reason. He is always there for me when I need him.
“Hurry your a$$ up man, I have been waiting for ages here!” he says as he starts to roll up the windows of his black Audi TT RS.
“Thanks for waiting bro. I had the worst day ever.”
“What did Mrs. Bloomberg say?” he asks as he starts to drive towards my house.
“ We're still working together if that’s what you really want to know. Honestly I don’t want to talk about it. I’m tired, confused, pissed off, and my head is pounding. Please let's not talk about it anymore.” I turn my head to look out the window. I don’t want to be rude to Matt I have just had enough of Danielle for the day.
“Whenever you're ready I’m just a call away.” he says looking at the road.
“I know, thanks man.”
We continue the ride to my house just listening to the radio and having little unimportant conversations.
When we make it to my house Matt asks me “ Do you need a ride tomorrow morning? You cut it really short today.” He had a big grin on his face.
“ Please if it's not too much to ask. I don’t want to keep begging my mother every morning.” I tell him as I open the door and grab my bag and guitar.
“It's cool. I will be here at 7:20 am sharp. No oversleeping or you will be begging on your knees for a ride from that hot mother of yours Cammy.” he says this with that stupid grin on his face again.
“Still having that fantasy of bedding my mom? Ugh, I think I threw up in my mouth a little.”
“Your mom is number one in my personal mother I'd like to fu…..” I close the door cause I really don’t want to hear whatever he was going to say about my mom.
As soon as I open the front door I smell food, meaning that mother is home and we are having a guest tonight. Probably some members of my father’s political party committee. Just what I need to end this day on a high note. Is it Friday the 13th or did I walk under a ladder this morning?
I make my way to the kitchen trying to find my mother so she can tell me what the heck is going on. Sure enough, she is there in front of the stove reading some instructions on a box, of what looks from here, like pasta. “ Hi mom. I'm home.”
“Oh sweetheart I didn’t hear you come in. How was your day at school today?”
“My day was fantabulous and please, by all means, note the sarcasm.”
My mother gives me a worried glance before she asks what happened.
“Let's just say that I had a terrible day. And seeing you in the kitchen preparing some food just means that daddy dearest wants us to have a family dinner with some guest, or am I wrong? That will just be the highlight of my day.”
“Camden you know your father means well. His political career is very important to him. Just try to be there for him this time. If you're really not feeling up to the part I will make something up to excuse you from the Dinner tonight.”
