Interview: RitaMB

Author of "The Good Kind Of Bad"

What can we call you (name)?

Rita

Where are you from?

I live in Manchester, UK.

What is your favorite hobby?

I suppose photography as I have my own business. It's always a toss up between the two but I think my heart is in writing.

Coffee or tea?

Hot chocolate. Can't stand coffee or tea.

Interesting Fact?

I'm half English, half Dutch.

What book(s) are you reading now?

I'm currently reading The Road by Jack London and Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. I've recently converted to reading on a Kindle Fire HD, though still undecided if I prefer it to the feel of the pages of a book.

Who are your favorite Wattpad authors?

I'd probably say Neon_N3o for Society Dysfunctional, but I should really read more on wattpad, there's just too much out there!

When and why did you start writing?

I can remember sitting at my mother's typewriter writing little stories or dreams when I was about seven or eight. I then kept a diary for years which is a great form of expression. I think I just started writing because I had to, I felt a need to document my life. I also kept a notepad with me to write down anything that came into my head, and still do.

Is there a specific genre that you like to read/write?

I love thrillers and interweaving plots. A story should always have a sub-plot lurking in the background. I also like characters that have a life outside the pages; I think that can make characters really come alive.

What or who inspires you in your work?

I think life is a great inspiration. Stories don't necessarily need to come straight from experience but can be enhanced by little quirks and journeys you've made yourself. They can really bring the story to life.

Can you tell us a bit about your current story and why people would want to read it?

The Good Kind of Bad is about a girl craving excitement in her life. She leaves her fiance at the altar and runs away to find the danger she's been searching for, but discovers her new life comes at a price.

If you want a story that ends on the very last page, GKOB is for you. It's a book that twists and turns through a complex and thought-provoking plot that ensures once you re-read, it's a completely different story.

Is there a message for your readers in your work?

Be your own person first and trust your gut; everyone else is just a bit-player.

Do you have any advice for other writers?

Read, a lot. It doesn't matter if it's not your usual genre, any story can be good, as long as it's well-written. Oh, and don't give up.
