Rionas POV--( Picture of her to the right!)
That sad excuse for a human being is finally dead and gone from my life, for good this time. Still, I don't want to think about that. I want to start a new life and I promise myself that nobody will have the chance to take advantage of me or to hurt me in the slightest bit.
At this point you're probably thinking, "Who the hell is this girl?" while you look down your nose at my words. My name is Riona Bleddyn, just another girl with another story.
I was adopted by my uncle when my parents died when I was 3 months old, an apparent car crash, for all I know that could be a lie. Since then I was treated no better than a slave.
Starting at the age of 10 things went down hill. My uncle pimped me to his drug friends. At the age of 14 I became angry with myself for not standing up to him so I started training in different ways of fighting and defense like kickboxing and martial arts, but not the legal way . At the age of 15 I received my first trophy from the undergrounds.Sounds dangerous and it is, the undergrounds was like a home to me, were people would come and train and fight to forget for a few minutes.
I had been trained to defend myself against anybody that came in my way, yet every time he would raise a fist to me I resorted to being scared and weak.
Then yesterday came and he was found dead in his apartment having asphyxiated on his own vomit after a drug overdose. His cold and heartless eyes still haunt me even in his death though I know I have nothing to be scared of. I will never have to feel defenseless and pathetic ever again.
I looked at the mirror one more time and saw a girl with an hourglass figure and bright hazel eyes. Her big pink lips stood out in contrast to her tanned skinned making her look slightly ferocious in a simple black flowy crop top, pair of black skinny jeans and black boots with gold studs on them completed the look.
To noone's surprise, my uncle wasted his money on drugs and booze until there was nothing left. No money from him and little income of my own meant that I didn't have any savings and that I usually had to rely on mypart-time job in a cafe near my house; It was only weekends from 9am - 6pm but paid me £65 a day so I'm glad I found that.
After a short 15 minute walk I arrived in front of the new school, a nondescript brick building. It was almost unnoticeable though I couldn't help but notice the entire student body staring at me as though I was some sort of alien. I mean, I'm used to a few drunken guys staring at me with lust but this is creepy.
Standing a little straighter, I walked into the school and pointed my body in the direction of the office placing one foot in front of the other for dramatic effect until found the double doors. Through the glass I spotted a woman in her late 50's sitting behind a desk with a lot of files in front of her. She didn't seem particularly inviting but I went inside anyway. How else was I supposed to figure out my classes?
'"Hey, I'm Riona Bleddyn and I'm new. Do you have a schedule for me?'
She picked a file from her desk and gave it to me. "Here you go, darling. Inside the file is a map of the school, your schedule, your locker number, the combination for the locker and...I think that's all. If you need any help just come back here and I will do what I can. And...mmm...be careful around here" She smiled politely before she went back to her work on the computer in front of her.
I ignored her comment from earlier and looked through the file and took out my schedule because I didn't need to go to my locker just yet.
P.E. was first on the list so I made my way to where the map said that I would find the gym, and went inside to find a group of people standing around and listening to an old man who was obviously the coach.
"You must be the new kid," he said as he spotted at the entrance. "Come over here and introduce yourself."
I walked towards the group of people slowly. "Umm, my name's Riona Bleddyn. I'm 17, I just moved here from just outside of London, and if you piss me off, I will not be afraid to break you." I smiled innocently. "Any questions?"
A guy with brown hair and blue eyes snickered and I chose to single him out. "Don't you believe me?" I asked.
"Not a chance. There's no way some little girl like you can beat anybody in this room." The group nodded along with him.
"Calm down now," the coach said in a booming voice interrupting me before I could put the boy in his place, "Today we will be working on self-defense as this term is going to be focusing on combat. So, get changed and I will sort you into groups based on your abilities," he said then asked some girl named Johanna to give me a spare athletics kit.
A girl with long blond hair and light green eyes smiled at me, took my hand and lead me to a a shelf stocked with kits inside the changing room. It was just a t-shirt and short shorts that were less than comfortable but still required. Like a good girl, I changed quickly and rejoined the others in the gym.
"Okay, everybody you already know your groups so break up and practice. Riona, I want you to go with Sam since his partner isn't here and I'll need to see how you do before I can give you a permanent partner," Coach ordered. "And Sam, go easy on her."
I sighed and went towards the mat, smirking at Sam. I prayed his testosterone fueled ego would keep him from listening to the coach and going easy.
After 15 minutes all the groups had made it through their steps with the exception of me and Sam. We'd even gathered in a circle of spectators around us watching and whispering though I couldn't make out what they were saying.
"I'm getting bored," I teased. "I guess I'll finish you off now." I shrugged while Sam tried to punch me in the stomach. It was child's play.
I grabbed his hand and twisted it around his back before punching him in his back and making him fall on the ground. I hear a collective gasp and people whispering. One person was even saying "Wait until Adrian hears about this," in an excited tone.
Who was Adrian and why would she care anyway? I figured he must have been Sam's girlfriend but I didn't care.
"See, I told you that I could kick your ass," I laughed while he looked at me with shock. In the spirit of sportsmanship I offered him my hand which he accepted and got to his feet.
"How did you- I mean you're not even a... you're... umm, well done" His mouth smiled but I could see slight fear in his expression. Intimidation, maybe?
I smiled as the bell rang and walked into the changing room to change and walked out to see Johannah standing around. I smiled at her and we started talking. We didn't stop the whole break period and at the end we exchanged numbers.
"Hey, meet me at lunch, okay? See ya!" she called over her shoulder not waiting for me to accept the invitation.
I went to both of my lessons and found they were pretty much the same. I introduced myself, sat down, people where gawked me like I was some kind of freak and whispering to each other. Then, before I knew it, it was lunch.
I walked out of the room and bumped into something very hard. I looked up ready to give the jerk a piece of my mind only to find the most beautiful green eyes I have ever seen attached to a super-hot guy standing right in front of me. While my face probably registered shock and awe, his held no emotion at all.
"Watch where you'r--." He stopped talking when he looked at me, he slowly offered me his hand but I slapped it away, suddenly I could feel electric running through my hand, then throughout my whole body. I looked at him again and this time he had shock written in his eyes .
"What the hell was that?" He just continued to stare at me,while I was inspecting my hand.
