CHAPTER 15 REVIEW!

Jasper's POV

"Is that why you've been acting weird sometimes?" she asked, deeply searching my eyes again. "Because of your father?"

"Yeah, he's been threatening me, and you. He knows about you, but I didn't tell him anything. He must have people watching me." As I said this, I realized our surroundings again. My ears perked up at the sound of something like footsteps and a twig breaking.

Dropping her hand, I slapped the button and the top slid up as I started the car.

"We need to get out of here." I said, revving the engine and backing out of the meadow and onto the road.

"Why? What's wrong?" she asked, looking out the window behind as, her brows furrowed together as she stared at me.

"Someone was watching us just now." I growled, looking in my rearview mirror and seeing an outline of a car.

CHAPTER 16

Allegra's POV

"Someone was watching us just now." Jasper growled, starting the car and flying backwards, sliding the car as he turned to follow the path back down the mountain.

"Put your seatbelt on." he said through clenched teeth, looking in the rear view mirror.

He muttered a curse before pushing the gas pedal to the floor, forcing me back in the seat.

Blinding lights from the car on our butt greeted me as I glanced in my rearview mirror.

Jasper flew around a curve, skidding on the dusty road.

The odometer reached a hundred and thirty as we reach the bottom of the mountain and the smooth paved road.

"Jas, who is in that car?" I asked as we pulled out onto the road and he slammed on the gas again.

"I have no idea, but they're a hell of a good driver."

The road and our surroundings passed as a blur and I glanced in my mirror again to see the car approaching us again.

"They're coming up on us really fast." I choked on my words, trying to sound cool and collected, but the fear was evident in my voice.

Jas cursed again, slamming on the breaks as we came up on a sharp turn. He turned over to glance at me and placed a hand on my cheek.

"I'll always protect you." he said simply, his eyes glued to mine.

He slammed on the breaks and the car came to an abrupt halt in the middle of the woods.

He shut the car off and it was silent all around us.

Suddenly, the lights from the car that was following us filled the rearview mirror and they took slammed on their breaks, stopping just a foot away after swerving to miss Jasper's car.

"Stay here." Jas said firmly, running his hand down along my jawbone before twisting around and grabbing something from the backseat and stuffing it in his jeans.

He opened the door causually and stepped out, looking like he just stepped out of an Abercrombie ad, his face blank but his eyes full of determination.

He closed the door, but the window was down so I crawled over to his seat and peeked my head over the door.

The driver's door of the car beside us opened and instantly, Jasper's disposition changed.

He stood up straighter, his shoulders back and his one fist clenched while the other one held an object that glimmered in the moonlight.

The person stepped out from the other car and walked casually around to where Jas stood.

"Jasper, what a pleasure to see you again. It's been years." the man's voice oozed with hatred and his evil smile reflected in the moonlight.

"Father." Jasper growled, baring his teeth and clenching his hand tighter around the knife in his left hand.

I gasped, but quickly covered my mouth with my hand.

Jasper's father was right there, not even five feet away from me.

My heart pounded in my chest and I prayed that it wouldn't draw attention toward me.

"Oh my. What a large knife you have there son." Jasper's father laughed evilly. "What were you planning on doing with that son? Were you going to kill me?" he chuckled again and began pacing around Jasper.

But Jasper was still, the only movement were his fingers digging into his palms as he clenched his fists tighter.

"You couldn't kill me Jasper. You would never kill your father, would you?"

His father stopped pacing and put his face up to Jas's face. "Would you?" he said menacingly.

"No." Jasper growled.

"Of course not." He smiled and began pacing again. "Couldn't risk putting your pathetic little school girl in trouble, right?"

Jasper spun around and got up in his father's face now. "She is not pathetic. I love her." he spit at his father, his eyes flaming, his face fuming.

His father held his hands up in protest. "Alright. Well then I guess it won't be any trouble doing what I asked you to do when you first came to this town if her life is on the line, am I correct?"

"You can't threaten her." he growled.

Suddenly a bullet whizzed inches above my head, through the open window and went out of the car through the passenger window.

The glass shattered and Jasper was at the car in seconds. "Allegra!" he screamed, seeing me laying across the seats.

I sat up quickly and looked up at his, seeing his face at ease for a second when he realized I was fine before his eyes flamed again and he turned back to face his father.

"Do not hurt her." he growled, pointing the knife directly at his father's heart. "What must I do to keep her safe?"

"Ah, good. I'm glad you see it my way. This way we both get when we want."

"And what is it that you want?"

"There is a wealthy man living here with his wife and daughter in a gated community. He owes me money, but he has yet to pay me back. So your job is to bring him to me, dead or alive."

"What is his name?"

"Robert Fernaldo." His father smiled, pleased with himself, and glanced over at his son's car where he knew Allegra Fernaldo sat, her eyes filling with fear.

"Allegra's father." Jasper suddenly realized.

"You have forty eight hours to bring him to the Hilton on twenty-first street." he said simply before climbing into the driver's seat of his car and speeding off in the distance, leaving me breathless and Jasper frozen in the road.

Forty eight hours and counting.
