*** PAT'S POV ***
I snapped out of trance, when two thunderous clashes were made and I broke my gaze from Conner's eyes. Two figures, were smashed against the lockers. It was Dan, who was pinning Conner up against the metal, frames. "Leave, Pat. Now!" he growled. I looked at him, and then to Conner. "No, my love stay" purred, Conner. "GO!" I was confused and scared. I stumbled my way into the cafe to hear nothing but, silence. What was Dan going to do to Conner? I groaned. I opened the doors and went to my seat with my brown bag. I sat there thinking, what the hell was going on? I want to ask grams if we can leave tommorow, I just can't stand it here! I took a bite of my sandwhich. My suspicions hit in full gear. Ugh! I saw a dark shadow hover me, blocking out the light. I looked up to see a gorgeous guy with dark brown hair came and stood there looking at me. I stared at him for awhile, realising who it was. "Valentine?" I said, swallowing hard. "Yeah, this seat taken?" he asked. "No, go right ahead" I directed. Why was Valentine here? His turquiose eyes studied my meal. I took another bite and started to chew. "Thanks," he mumbled. "So, what are you doing here?" "Oh, nothing" "Right," "You're not going to drop it are you?" "Nope not at all" I said, taking out the tomatoes. He sighed, deeply. "Just here to ask you why you're leaving?" he replied. "Why does it bother you? I mean I thought you were 'open - minded'?" "I am, it's just--" "That dork put you up for this, didn't he?" I said, placing my half eaten sandwhich on the plastic wrap. "What dork?" "Daniel Evans? You know tall, blonde hair, and freakishly annoying?" "Ah, that one. But, how can you be so sure?" he pursuaded. "Because, you aren't so protective like that fool" I explained, while he laughed. "He's just trying to do his job, love" "Whatever, Hepler" "No, Dan didn't send me here. My sister told me the news" "Oh, Blanche knew?" he nodded, "how?" "You know gossip here spreads like wild fire" he said. "Er, well thats annoying" "What is?" "Everyone knows now" "Not everyone" he winked. "Hardy har har" I laughed, at his comment. "Anyways, what a diet you have there" "Why care to taste" I offered. "Nah, I'm full" "Suit yourself" I shrugged and finished eating my sandwhich when a question struck. I wanted to ask badly from the day I've met him til' now. "What's going on between you and Dan?" I whispered. He froze into a stiff position, and then he let out a sigh. "It's a long story" "We got 40" I said. He smiled, and caved in. "Me and Dan, were always competetive in everything. Sports, academics, achievements etc. But, when it came that one day when we found our true love. It was her that turned us against each other" he explained, "her amazing frosty blue eyes, flowing chocolate hair, and a body of a goddess" He sighed, and sad one too. "What happened?" I asked. "Dan and I both had fell deeply in love with her. Head over heels" "Oh. So who got --" "I did, Pat. I did, and fairly too" "Oh," "She liked me back. Dan was hurt, horrified" he sounded hurt and regretful. "Then?"I cued. "Just like that she was gone. Sent away to god" "What? How?" he looked blank, and was silenced for minutes. "Her death was a mystery," his face went mad and then softened, "I accused Dan for years. Eventually gave up, he still holds that grudge over me" "Why?" I asked, looking at him. He looked outside as droplets of rain dragged along the window pane. "Because, he to thought I had abused her to her death. Which I did not do such thing," he looked at me with pleading eyes, that penetrated with such hope," you know Pat, I'm not that kind of guy." "I know you aren't" I croaked, "hey, I just noticed, that when you described her that you exactly described--" "You?" he finished off. I nodded. "Yeah, I know. That's why I'm so drawn to you Pat. Your the only living thing, I have of her" he said taking my hand in his. "Valentine.." I groaned. "I can understand, but being friends won't hurt right?" I smiled, now here's a guy who doesn't rush things into place. A guy who understands, how a girl feels and steps aside. "Of course it won't" I leaned over and pecked him on the cheek, a cold cheek too. "So how is the weight coming along?" "Er- No success, I'm gaining more and more over the days. I think this is how my body wants to be" I shrugged, sadly. I got up and dusted off the crumbs sticking onto my jeans.
