Chapter 8 
 
The next morning Stephen walks me to school. I'm so happy all I can do is smile.  He hold my hand and he seems as happy as I am. As we walk up to the school gates he puts his arm around me. Like he wants everyone to know I'm his and that's just fine by me. 
Thats when I see Light walking towards the main building. He catches my eye looks at Stephen then looks away. He does even wave. 
I don't know why but this makes me really sad.
 I thought we were friends. I look at stephen he has a slight smile on his face as he watchs Light walk away. This definately annoys me. 
'Light!' I call out. He doesn't turn around , he musnt have heard me. 'Light. I call again.' this time he stops and turns to the side acknowledging that he heard me.
He waits for us to walk up to him. Not actually looking at us.
'hey what's up' I ask him. 
He looks up and I see him wince. He looks so sad again like on the swings. I hate when Light looks like this.
That's when I realise it. There is a big dark purple circle around his right eye. 
I gasp. It looks so painful.
'Light what happened' I say moving away from Stephen until im standing right infront of him.
He smiles wincing again. 'it's nothing Alex, just got punched in the eye playing rugby last night' he says

'there wasn't a game on last night' I hear Stephen say behind me.

Light frowns at him. 'I play out if school aswell' he replys. 

'oh yerh. Who do you play for' says Stephen.

'what is this 21 questions. I was playing rugby I got punched in the eye okay. Now look I need to speck to Mr Peck before reg so i've got to go. See you around Alex.'  he turns around and starts walking away. 

I feel Stephen slide his arm around my waste again. 'what the hell's up with him.' he mutters. 

'i dunno.' I say.

'hey Al i've got to go to the office before registration too. I'll meet you in class. Tell Miss Barker I'm going to be late' 

'okay' I say. He kisses me in the check and start walking away aswell.
 As I turn the corridor to my form class. It is unusually quiet. I must be later than I thought. 
I hear the clunking of geels then, Suddenly I am flung into the lockers and my shoulder hits the metal, causing a shearing pain. 
'what the hell' I scream. My hair is grabbed from behind. And my face is pressed into the lockers.  
'i hear see you and Stephen have gotten pretty friendly.' a voice whispers menacingly in my ear. I recognize this voice. How can I forget that stupid high pitched voice. Gabriella. 
'look i'm only going to say this once bitch. You stay away from Stephen. I've worked to hard to get him to like me. I won't have you ruin this. Do you hear me! Your going to keep ur dirty hands off him.' she threatens.

'i'm afraid that ain't going to happen' I manage to say. 

She turns me around her face furious. She slaps me hard across the face. I grab her hair and pull with all my strength. But then I feel other hand pulling me away. That's when I realise there's more of them. Someone hold my hands behind my back. Gabriella smiles. She pulls out a bottle of coke from her bag. Before I can't even try protect myself I feel the ice cold drink poured all over my hair, face and clothes.
'woops' I hear her say.

'what the fuck is going on here!' I turn to look in the direction it came from. It's Light but I can barely see him with the coke stinging my eyes. 'what the fuck.' he says again.  I'm released suddenly and I fall to the floor. I can hear the clinking of heels as Gabriella and her gang walk away from me. 
'i hope I've made my warning clear bitch!' I hear her say as she walks away from me. 

'Alex. Alex are you okay.' Light pulls me off the floor. I feel slightly dizzy. I pull away from him but he holds on to me anyway. 

'what on earths going on here' shit. This time it's Stephen. I don't want them to see me like this I just want to get out of here.

'what have you done to her you bastard!' Stephen shouts at Light.

'i haven't done anything to her you idiot. But maybe if you'd look after her better this wouldn't have happened.' retorts Light.

'you shut up.' say Stephen I feel him try pull me towards him. I can't take this any more. 
I pull away from both of them and I start running. Tears blurring my vision. I hear them call for me , but I ignore them. I just run and run. Out of the school. Down the street. When I slow down I have no clue where I am. I walk around aimlessly.
