Chapter 1

Her footsteps fall one after another. They were light, graceful, precise and sure. She turned around but her face showed what one would never expect from her movements, long silky black hair that reached her waist and slender body. They were full of scratches made obviously by the act of an animal. Her eyes were bloodshot as she stared out into space. Her mouth was just a visible line despite being as red as the reddest rose. There was a gash on her right cheek where her bones showed and maggots eating away the dead meat.

She averted her gaze to mine and smiled a smile, slow yet agonizing to watch. My scream never left my throat as I observed further. Her teeth were not even yellow; they were brown, the brown that can happen only after decades of decomposition. There were even gaps in between each tooth that showed maggots crawling in and out. Her gums were not pink as those of a normal person but black with blood stains which were obviously the result of her torn gums. And as she smiled, her eyes narrowed with accusation and hatred over something that I had not done.

I forced myself to turn around which I managed after using up every ounce of my will power. But as I started to run, she appeared out of thin air in front of me. Her face was no more than two inches from mine. I stifled a gasp as I backed away from my only exit. She kept smiling, drinking in all my fear but this time, she held out a knife; bloody, long and sharp. After what seemed like hours, I noticed a drop of blood leaving the tip of the knife. I saw it dripped to the floor and I stared at the place where the blood was. That tiny drop was real. It was really there. Now, I returned my gaze to hers. She was still smiling, clearly enjoying every bit of my fear. Then she ever so slowly leveled the knife to her mouth and licked it; it was slow and it would chill anyone to the bone if they had been there to watch. But somehow, I could not look away. She licked her lips and once again smiled.

Her smile this time, was so painful to watch that I was sure it will haunt me for as long as I walked this Earth. There were now traces of blood on her teeth and the maggots were also in the same shade of red. She inclined her head to me. "Your turn, love."
