The Coven

Chapter 1

Lexi drifted through the dark halls of Pern high school. She glanced up. Josh Chandler strolled casually, as always, never lovestruck like herself, past her. She wanted to stare forever into his beautiful, crystal clear eyes, but she knew she couldn't. Every time she hopelessly daydreamed about them being together she got caught up in the fact her magick got between the two of them. She glanced at his back. His deep red Aeropostale Hoodie, his light blue jeans, and his black and red kicks all fit him flawlessly. Just as her eyes left his perfectly sculpted body, and she started to turn her head, "Ouh!" She let out a little scream of pain. She forgot how short the halls were. Josh turned around, and as soon as he saw her skinny body sprawled across the floor, books everywhere, he rushed over to help her.  

"Lexi! Are you okay?!" His deep voiced boomed.  

She mumbled, "Ulh.. Yeah... Why do these walls always have to get in the way??" 

"Ha. Sometimes I wonder the same thing. What happened??" 

"I.. Uh... I just got lost in a DayDream... Not about you.. 'Cause that'd be crazy you know? Why the heck would I daydream about you?" She replied. 

"Um. I don't know. Well, see you around." With that he handed her the once scattered books he'd been holding and walked off.  

As Lexi whined, "Crap. Now why the heck would I say that?"

Her first four periods flew by and she felt as if she'd slept through half of the day and not absorbed one single detail, other than making a complete idiot out of herself in front of the hottest guy in school. When she heard the relieving sound of the lunch bell, she met Allie, Jayde, and Ara in the back of the food line. They waited for what seemed like an eternity before finally reaching down to get their trays and food. Once the whole clique had their lunch, they strutted to their usual table in the middle of the cafeteria and sat down. Ara excitedly blurted out, "What spell are we learning next, Lexi?! " It took her a moment to realized she had just spatted out their secret, right in front of Allie, the mortal. Her face immediately turned bright red with a mixture of fear and embarrassment. Allie, curious as she was, questioned, "What do you mean the next spell? Like magic?" Ara was dumbfounded, but managed to stutter out, "O-oh, nothing... Well anyways, a-at least it's friday!" Allie knew something was up and she wasn't going to let it go.

Author's note

To catch you up, Lexi and Ara are Witches and are a in coven of 7 other witches, including them. Lexi, if you can't tell, is the head witch. I am extremely sorry for the shortness of the first chapter, I'll make up for it in Chapter 6.
