I can't help myself, I don't want anyone else {6}
Sean's PoV
"Do you want to come and watch Becky and I play netball tomorrow?" she asked, biting her lip as if she regretted it as soon as the question slipped out.
As if I would say no. "Of course," I told her with a genuine smile. It was so easy to be around her. "And you know what? I am taking you to dinner afterwards. No arguments." That's the way Sean; show her that you can take control. I was not letting her refuse. She was going on a date with me, no matter what.
Millie was trying to keep the smile off her face, but having a little difficulty. I gave her a wink and she cracked a full grin, showing me pearly whites and cute dimples. "How about you take me to lunch before the game instead," she told me. "Only because I'll need a shower after cause I'll..." she sounded a little embarrassed.
"Because you'll be all hot and sweaty," I finished for her raising an eyebrow. Hers rose just as high and she punched me in the arm.
"Ouch," I said, rubbing my arm and faking hurt. She smiled at my sarcasm.
"You can pick me up at eleven, my game starts at one thirty so..." she didn't finish, trailing of looking a little awkward.
"Will your dad and brother be here?" I asked nervously looking in the direction of her house. I was still a little worried what they would do if they found out I liked Millie. Whoa! Hold up a minute. Did I just say I liked Millie? The butterfly's Tim had told me about were returning.
Her beautiful laugh interrupted my thoughts and they fluttered even faster. "They won't be here, but my mum will. And she will probably want to meet you... just to make sure you're not a bad influence or anything." She looked down, brows furrowed in anticipation. She was probably thinking that this little piece of information would throw me off, and it did a little. I never met anyone's parents. But I really wanted to take her out. Then again, meetings with the Petersons were a death wish.
I nodded slowly. Truthfully, I was a little scared, but I'm sure I can deal. After all, Millie has the job of telling her mother. "Alright... well, I guess I will see you tomorrow then." Before I could add anything else she did something completely unexpected. Before saying goodbye, she leant up to kiss me on the cheek. "Bye," I said as she closed the door. There were many surprises in the short time I'd been with her, not to mention a lot of eyebrow raising.
I watched her as she walked towards her front door. Her school skirt was small and bobbed as she walked, and her long blonde hair swayed in the slight wind. She looked like a young angel, a very young one. I wonder how old she is. I think she's in her final year of school, so seventeen is my guess. That's only two years difference.
I was still staring after her in surprise when she walked inside. Did that just happen? Not only do I have a date with a Peterson tomorrow, I was watching her play netball, not to mention I would be meeting her mother. Mrs. Peterson probably has the same aversion to my family as her husband and son did. Oh well, there was only one-way to find out, and that was rocking up tomorrow at eleven sharp.
I pulled my phone out as I took off. I had plans to change with Tim.
He answered, sounding annoyed, "What?"
I took no offence to it. "Tim," I said. "Change of plans."
Millie's PoV
Without thinking, I leant up to kiss Sean on the cheek. Immediately my face flushed with red and I said goodbye and quickly jumped out of the Hilux. Did that just happen? I have a date with Sean tomorrow, then he is watching me play - that should be embarrassing - and on top of that, he would have to meet my mother.
Now I know what you're thinking, why does he have to meet your mother on only the first date? Well, mum is very protective of me, and she acts more like my sister than my mother sometimes. I tell her everything and vise versa and this seemed like something she would like to know, especially because Sean is a Houston. I just hope she won't chuck a nut at me.
I changed into something a little more comfortable than my school uniform and began searching the house for my mother. I found her in the kitchen chopping up some potatoes.
"Hey mum," I said exuberantly. I couldn't help it - I was in a happy mood.
"You're in a happy mood," she observed looking up from the potatoes she was still chopping. "Did you make up with John?"
There went my good mood. Thanks mum. "John's a tool." I told her with demise.
