Everything is naïve and chaste for a young heart; people doubt everything when they grow up.

# Project LOVE…

+LIANA+

“What do you mean?” Asher glared at me.

We were in the study for an hour trying to figure out who we had to interview and we were trying to set up the questions for that and yes, we did not agree on a single idea the other had suggested. When he suggested something, I would simply neglect it and when I suggested something, he would snort. It was irritating and tiresome. Who knew working on a project would be this insufferable?

“I mean, people like you don’t know about love,” I said explaining my earlier point.

“I know you said that, what does that mean?” He looked at me with an unreadable expression on his face. I sighed irritated. Couldn’t he get a simple fact? People like him only care about appearance, status, money and so on. They do not know the true value of love.

“Leave it, let’s just come to a compromise,” I shrugged feeling tired. His eyes never left mine as he muttered ‘That’s what I said an hour ago…’

“Ok, like you said, you go interview your group of friends and I will find some really decent people to interview about love. Then we can go to a few mothers in the local park and other public places for the next step of the project; we can interview some group of best friends about friendship,” I explained.

“Are these really the questions about love you want to ask?” he looked at me stiffly.

“Yes, because your questions are senseless,” I shrugged, chewing my pen and trying to find some other questions for our first topic-LOVE.

“What’s wrong with asking a person in love, what they love most about his/hers lover’s face?” he gave me a defiant look. I was not going to agree to that question, it sounded stupid. Maybe you think it wasn’t that bad, but I did not want anyone to ask about his/hers lover’s face. What if he/she didn’t have any attractive features, well like me? What would the other say?

“That’s not a good question; love isn’t what comes from appearance,” I gave him a stern look.

“But looks are the first thing that attracts people; are you saying that love at first sight is not real?” he gave me a questioning look.

“I did not say that, love at first sight has a deeper meaning than just looks; if you feel that one person is all that you need, if you think that you would give up anything for her when your eyes land on her for the first time, if you feel that she is the only one you want even though she is not that beautiful, if you find your world inside her eyes, if you can assure her that she is the only one in your heart, then that’s love. If you find her simply attractive, if you want to touch or feel her, if you want to spend a night with her; no, it isn’t love at first sight, it is lust for one night…” I finished silently. He did not speak after that. I expected him to laugh or even snort. Nothing came in the end.

“Yes you’re right,” he muttered silently back and then crossed out the question. There was a long line in his notebook; I realized it was my little speech.

“Why did you write it?” I looked at him curiously.

“This is going to be the first few lines of our project…” he said running his hand over the note or my words. I shrugged casually. Asher was acting differently for sure.
