Part 5 of 14

Evelyn made her way through the huge doors and walked down the hallway. A couple of students were casting spells on each other in the middle of the hallway. When they saw her, they quickly got out of the pathway and retreated back to the dining hall. She skipped the step that would cave in at the slightest touch and walked up the staircase, paying attention to the other staircases that were moving and switching directions. Evelyn made her way up and was standing in front of a huge black door with grey snakes as the main design. What was with this school and snakes? She knocked on the door, waiting for an answer.

"Come in" said a voice she recognized as the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Professor Vallombrose.

She turned the huge ornate knobs and entered into a darkly decorated office. Everything was black and grey and it had a scary feeling to it. Yes, she was in trouble.

The professor looked up from his desk and motioned for Evelyn to sit down. She obliged and sat in one of the surprisingly comfy chairs.

"Now you might be wondering why I asked you to come up and meet me"

"It's because of what I did in class" she said, feeling the blood rise to her cheeks. She didn't know how she did it, all she knew was she wasn't supposed to be able to. "I don't know how or why. I never practiced dark magic before with my parents nor have I ever attempted the Killing Curse" she said to him, pleading with her eyes he believe her.

"No I know that. I have something to tell you that your parents may have not said" he said, seeing the look of confusion on her face. "I'm actually your uncle. Your father's brother".

"You're my uncle?" That was by far the furthest thing she thought he was going to say to her. It was unsettling, yet, not at all that surprising. She knew she had recognized the similar green eyes as his. She got hers from her father.

"Yes, but this isn't something you can tell to your friends. There is a reason I am in this disguise. I will discuss it with you on a later date, but for now, I have some important matters that you need to be informed of" he said in a knowing tone. He looked into the fireplace that was somewhere behind her and continued. "I know its hard being special. Your parents aren't with you here to teach you about the prowess you have. I'd like to train you. We are family; I'd like to start off where your dad stopped. You are by far more advanced then your grade, so you can't exactly learn this in class" he said.

He just gave me a compliment, which means he's trying to distract me. "What power?" She asked him, sort of smug, catching him in his own allusive way of avoiding the 'important' topic, if you call him being her uncle not important.

He narrowed his eyes at the formation his niece's lips were making. Either way, he answered. "The Shadows, ultimately, darkness. It is what all dark wizards want and what all light wizards fear. Not a single wizard has a power like this and it is surprising to find it in a fifteen year old. If they knew..." he trailed off. He continued, "It is a power no one knows about. The only reason we know about this is because of the prophecy no one really took serious until the first war."

"Prophecy?" she asked, confused again. "What does this have anything to do with me?"

He looked at her one more time before getting up. He started pacing the room and continued with his much needed simplified explanation.
"I suspect you have the power of darkness for many reasons. The most proving, you were able to kill the rat with the Killing Curse. If I am right, you didn't have any hatred towards the rat. Only one, who really wants to kill, can use the curse. But because you 'maybe' have the power of darkness, you killed the rat easily. Anyways, we only know about it because of a prophecy that has been around for so many years, even before the first war. A seer had prophesized that a dark child, raised from the light and the dark, will save the wizarding world" he said, finally taking his seat again.

"So you mean to say, I'm a dark wizard with some dark power?" she asked. It was ridiculous, she had so many questions. Yet, in that second, she forgot them all, set on the answer he was going to tell her.

"Yes, but not some power, all power. You have power over darkness. The prophecy tells of the one who will bring all goodness back to the wizard world. There are evil followers out there, still in faith, set on serving their mistresses. They will do anything to get rid of the thing in the way of returning all power to the dark side. Anything."

I know, me too. It seemed soooo ridiculour when I first thought of it but I wanted to show you guys what the school life was like before. They (cheerleaders) most likely will have a little "accident" and wont cheer ever again!
